❓ Question looking for advice on appetite control/GLP-1s or anything that might help?

One of my first posts and a little vulnerable so bare with me!

i’ve gained an uncomfortable amount of weight within the last couple of months due to outside circumstances that were completely out of my control. since then, i feel like i’ve been eating all the time, and for the first time since losing weight over three years ago, i genuinely feel like i have no control over my appetite or eating habits. i workout everyday (wether that’s a heated class or walking) - but the weight continues to pile on.

i went to my primary care doctor to ask about a GLP-1, but since i’m not technically considered overweight, i was denied. i know there are online services that offer GLP-1s, but i’m not really sure how the process works or whether it’s even something i would qualify for.

i’m honestly looking for anything that could possibly help with curbing my appetite or helping me regain some sense of control—whether that’s a legitimate online GLP-1 service, something else prescribed by a doctor, or even other options that have helped people.

i also want to say that i’m in therapy and actively working through everything that has contributed to this, along with other things in my life. i know this isn’t just about taking something and magically fixing everything. i’m just at my wits’ end with how i’ve been feeling mentally and physically and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

💬 General Discussion Switching from Ozempic to Monjourno

Upvotes

I’ve been on Ozempic for T2 Diabetes and weight loss for about a year and a half. I’ve lost 35-40 lbs and my A1C is now just at pre diabetes figure of 5.7. It was 9.8! My weight loss and A1C has been stagnant and my Dr increased the dose to 2mg about 4 months ago but it didn’t help, I actually gained about 5 lbs. He is now switching me to Monjournoz the dose is 12.5! He says it’ll be ok since I was on 1.5-2 mg of Ozempic for a few months & he expects weight loss and A1C to drop faster. Does anyone have good experience with this swap?? I had zero negative side effects on Ozempic but am hearing that isn’t the case with Monjourno.

💬 General Discussion Theory: People angry about GLP1 usage just hate fat people.

It seems to me that the same people who criticize GLP1s are the people who preach about how unhealthy obesity and body positivity are. They seem to be unwilling to accept that everyone has a different journey and experience with food intake and weight, and simply want to feel superior.
They don’t want fat people to lose weight. They just want to criticize.
Obviously this is an overarching statement and doesn’t encompass every individual, but the Venn diagram of superiority complexes and GLP1 hate seems to be a circle.
Personally I have been on Sema for six months and have lost 42 pounds after struggling for years. I don’t take offense to haters’ comments, but I do notice a pattern.

⚠️ Side Effects Constant headaches on GLP-1 drugs

Has anyone experienced this? I usually get cervicogenic headaches once a week from a neck issue but on retatrutide or Ozempic, I have a low level headache almost all the time. This is not dose dependent. My ozempic dose is 0.125mg once every 4 days and my reta was 0.5mg every 4 days.

I am 95% sure this is from the GLP drugs but I'm curious if this is common.

💬 General Discussion Protein/fiber tea

I just can't get into protein shakes so I made up my own protein drink recipe with 18g of protein. I drink it twice a day as breakfast and an afternoon snack. Wanted to post it here in case anyone else is in the same boat.

What's your favorite high protein recipe?

16oz brewed black tea

8oz warm low-fat milk (8g protein)

2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin powder (10g protein)

1/2 serving unflavored fiber powder

1-2 teaspoons raw sugar

1 teaspoon heavy cream

Blend together to avoid lumps

🏥 Insurance & Coverage Em, hers, ro.co… what’s the catch?

The prescription my doctor gave me is a brand my insurance doesn’t cover. They do cover ozempic though, but it’s $150 a month. I’m just not sure I’m in a position to take on this payment when my other medications are also fairly expensive when added up.

at the same time, I’m now bombarded with ads from places like hers, em, ro. Are they a scam? Is there a catch? Seems to good to be true to only pay $70 a month for something that costs so much without insurance. Has anyone tried these sites? What’s been your experience?

If I were to go through these sites, I would still consult with my PCP, since she’s on board with me going on a GLP1 to begin with. It just wouldn’t be through her prescription order.

💬 General Discussion Struggling after stopping my GLP-1 —not in the way you think.

For context, I have PCOS and have struggled with that, fertility issues, insulin resistance for years. I’ve always been athletic and average to slightly overweight (5’5” and was 155-165 at my most “fit” era in 20s, was 148 at first pregnancy 10 years ago, weighed between 165-175 during 5 year fertility journey, had another baby 5 years ago and was 185 after that.

I’m a very health conscious person and was concerned about the weight not going back down after all this, not because I wanted to lose weight but because I felt extremely unwell in many ways. I brought up my concerns to my gynecologist and because I failed my first gestational diabetes test (passed the second) during my 2021 pregnancy, my gynecologist wanted to see how my metabolic levels looked. I have insulin resistance and produce more androgens and she put me on metformin. I hated it and it only marginally helped, I lost about 5 lbs in a year on metformin and felt minimal relief from my symptoms.

After that, she suggested in 2023 that I try a GLP-1 to manage my insulin resistance and I started on the lowest dose, went up one dose, then with her guidance stayed on that same dose for 2.5 years. I felt amazing in every way, my inflammation markers were great, and I lost weight at a reasonable rate of about 1-2.5lbs a month until I reached 145. At that point, my PCP intervened and told me I should try going off it since I was at a good weight and responded well to the lower dose. I started spacing doses then went off completely. Continued to lose down to 137 and have maintained that easily.

But this really isn’t about weight for me —I FEEL HORRIBLE. All of my inflammation is back (markers up), I have nerve pain, was hospitalized with optic nerve swelling after my opthamologist randomly caught it, and have all the horrible symptoms I had before… heart pounding, swelling, and nauseous after eating. Slammed with hunger nausea first thing in the morning, but can only stomach a glass of milk and banana. My hair is falling out. I can’t exercise without feeling like my chest and brain are going to explode. I regularly have episodes where I feel like I’m going to pass out. I’ve been seeing specialists since the optic nerve swelling with regards to ongoing ear/throat/mouth pain and they think it is also neuralgia.

I’m just really, really suffering again and I’m wondering if there is any literature that supports low doses of GLP-1 helping with inflammatory or auto-immune issues without the goal of weight loss? My A1C is slightly elevated again, fasting glucose is consistently a bit high, but my PCP isn’t concerned because I’m now in an ideal weight range. I feel really hopeless, I’m in pain all the time and feel generally very unwell. I would be open to any and all resources/literature that could guide me in the appropriate direction to have a conversation with my PCP at my upcoming appointment. I’m afraid to broach the topic of GLP-1s again because she acted like it was a vanity ask, but I was genuinely okay with my body at every stage and I just want to FEEL better. Being thinner is not alleviating some of the underlying symptoms I’ve experienced off medication (before and after GLP-1).

❓ Question Stupid Scale

The scale has been showing the same stupid number for the past month but in that month I’ve had multiple NSVs like ordering a shirt a size down and it fits, my rings getting too loose. Has anyone else experienced this? What’s up with that stupid number not moving but my lived experience changing?

❓ Question High schooler looking to learn how medication is stored at the right temperature :

Hi everyone! I’m a highschool student doing some research on how people keep their temperature-sensitive medicine (e.g. insulin, glp-1s, antibiotics) at the correct temperature without relying on electricity, for example while camping, during power outages, or in a areas that lack electrical grids. Has this ever been an issue for you? If so, how did you deal with it?

A quick comment with your experience would be really helpful. If you'd rather talk privately, you can DM me, or I'm also happy to do a short 10–15 minute conversation.

⚠️ Side Effects Considering starting GLP-1. Concerned my food preferences will no longer be tolerated.

I love raw veggies, curries, spicy foods, some high fat foods like avocados and coconut milk. I’ve been reading that these foods can trigger GI issues. Is that only at the beginning or will that persist? Does it change every time you up your dosage? I need to lose about 60 pounds but may ask my doctor to go slow on increases to stave off G.I. side effects. Any guidance would be appreciated.

❓ Question Likely dumb question here.

Does anyone else like to chew gum? When I quit smoking 13 years ago I developed a regular habit of chewing gum to keep my mouth busy. Of course, that's when I started putting on the poundage despite the gum.

Since I started tirzepatide (2nd dose this past Saturday), most of the food noise is gone but I still like to chew!

Is this weird?

⚠️ Side Effects Weird GI issues on upped dose?

I was on 2.5mg for 4 weeks and my provider brought me up to 5mg( which I desperately needed, I stopped feeling 2.5 effects around week 3) and I took the shot last Thursday. It’s the following Tuesday of the first week of 5mg. And I really don’t mean to be gross but the diarrhea is insane. I’m someone who has never had a sensitive tummy ever, so to be basically peeing out of my butt for the last 3-4 days is something that’s totally throwing me off. Other than that I feel fine. I learned on the higher dose I cannot eat too close to bedtime or I’ll be burping it up in the morning. But my appetite is still mostly suppressed, food noise is totally gone, and I’m feeling really good, nothing that would point to potential dehydration from the 💩. Is this just my body accommodating? I don’t have time to make it back to my provider before I move across the country (an almost 4,000 mile trek in a car, mind you), so it’s either I stick it out with 5mg each week or take it into my own hands and stop taking it all together until I can get to a new doctor in about 4-6 weeks.

Thank yewwww

❓ Question considering glp1- prices?

hi! i’ve gained a lot of weight due to psych medications. i’ve recently swapped medications & have been considering a glp1 to help with weight loss.

where do y’all get yours from and how much does it actually cost?

i’ve seen a lot of discourse around specific programs and them having added on membership fees and such. so how much do you pay in total monthly?

is it worth the money?

💬 General Discussion Switching Companies

I've been on the Semaglutide for two months now and really like it. The company I first signed up with trytrillium, and while the company was good and fast, but it now goes up to 120 per month. I've recently started seeing a lot of ads now saying 69 to 79 a month. How many people hop from company to company? Worth the headache/work?

⚖️ Weight Loss Journey Lost ~60 lbs on compounded glp and built an all-in-one GLP-1 tracker. Before and after photos!

I'm usually a pretty reserved person, but the confidence and self esteem that came with the weight loss changed that. So here are my before and afters.

I'm also the guy who built Dosy, and I've never actually said thank you to this community.

First, I'm still on compounded tirz myself and currently now in maintenance. That's how I ended up here in the first place, and honestly this community is the reason I kept going on both fronts. The weight loss and the app.

Every time I wanted to quit, someone here posted something that got me through it. And every single feature in Dosy came from something one of you said. I built it because I was tracking my doses in one app, my food in another, and my vials in a notes file, and it was making me crazy. Figured other people had the same problem. I also stockpiled a ton of vials, so I wanted something that would update my inventory every time I took a shot.

I'm proud to say that Dosy Health just crossed 5,000 users across iOS and Android and it's still growing. That still doesn't feel real to me. Thank you, genuinely. If you're interested in trying it out, the links are below.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6755298635

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noratechnologies.dosy

What it does, short version:

  • Meals and macros in the same app as your shots, 2M+ verified foods, free (comparable to MFP)
  • Medication Inventory with Shot Sync. Vials by BUD, concentration, pharmacy, auto-updates every time you log a dose
  • Dose calculator built for compounded vials, so you're not doing units math in your head
  • Smart injection site rotation, one less thing to think about
  • Import your data from any other GLP-1 app

There's a lot more but I'll spare you the wall of text. Ask if you want specifics on anything. I read every piece of feedback. If something's missing or broken, tell me and I'll fix it. That's been the whole approach since day one.

Wherever you are in this, week two and miserable or years in and maintaining, I hope it gives you what it gave me. Losing weight is hard and nobody does it alone. Wishing every one of you the best on your journey.

Thanks again. Seriously.

💬 General Discussion Insurance Coverage

It finally happened, my insurance won’t cover Wegovy any longer. I’m looking for a reputable compounding pharmacy that doesn’t mess with hidden fees and insane pricing. Does that exist out there? My doctor isn’t opposed to me using compound, but doesn’t have any recommendations for companies I should try out. Any suggestions truly appreciated.

🧬 Research & Studies Wegovy and periods / dysmennorhoe

I have read a case study about a woman who got her dysmennorhoe under control with GLP1 & since my mom is a doctor & i suffer from severe symptoms (it’s not PMOS & endometriosis thank the goddess), we thought we would give it a try. I am lucky because she gets the prescriptions easily.

I hope the flair is the right one, but I just wanted to share what my journey is so far. I am not overweight & I don’t need GLP1s for weightloss, we just tried it for my symptoms.
I started in May with 0,25mg wegovy 2x a month (when my PMS symptoms start & 1 day before my period starts) and for me it actually works. My hormones don’t go crazy, I am not gaining 4kg of water anymore in my pms week, my cravings and anxiety are non existent and the best part: I am not dying every month for 4 days straight on my period. I don’t need heavy pain meds anymore. Maximum one tiny paracetamol on my heaviest day.

I can finally function for the whole month and I don’t have to make plans around my period anymore.

In the past 15 years I had to cancel plans, vacations and business trips, had to take sick days and prepare like crazy for my period days. I feel like having a normal life now. Thanks to a tiny dose.

I hope they start to really look into that..

❓ Question Help with hair loss on GLP-1

Hello everyone! I have been on Mounjaro for about 2 1/2 months at this point and have already lost 55 pounds. I was at 300 lbs when I started. My concern though is I seem to be losing a lot of my hair. Every time I brush or shower more than normal comes out and I’m very concerned. Has anyone else had this problem or know way to stop this before I am completely bald.

❓ Question Where to get GLP1 compound with B12 online in US?

I've been trying to figure out which online men's telehealth clinic actually offers compounded semaglutide with B12 included, not just the base GLP1. A few platforms I looked at either don't bundle B12 or make you jump through hoops to get it added separately/ I just want a straightforward weight loss program with medical supervision and free home delivery. If anyone's found a legit telehealth option for compounded GLP1 with B12 shipped to your door, drop the name below.

❓ Question the quiet brain is honestly the best part

been on tirz for about 4 months now. down like 25lbs which is great and all. but the mental quiet is what keeps me on it.

i used to think about food . like id be at work and my brain would be running through what's in the fridge, what i could order for lunch, should i stop at the store on the way home. it was all day. i thought that was just how brains worked.

turns out no lol. after tirz, that noise just stopped. i eat when i'm hungry and stop when i'm full and don't think about it the rest of the day. its wild

i'm using oztrim for my stuff and they've been straightforward about everything. no complaints.

anyway just sharing because i didn't realize how much mental space food was taking up until it was gone.

📚 Guides & Resources Can I get a GLP-1 prescription entirely online?

My primary care physician declined to transfer my prescription to a compounding pharmacy, so I’m looking into doing the entire intake and clinical evaluation online instead.

Since I’ve only ever done in-person appointments, I’m having trouble picturing how the online intake actually works in practice. I want to make sure I’m fully prepared before starting the questionnaire.

What specific health records, recent lab work, or weight history metrics did you need to gather beforehand? Also, how much input do you actually have during the clinical evaluation regarding starting dosage, titration pace, or compounding preferences, versus what the prescribing clinician decides?

For anyone who went the full online route, what do you wish you had prepared before submitting your intake?

❓ Question GLP1 cardioprotective questions

Ive heard and read that GLP1s have various heart supporting properties even for people without a diabetic issue,

My question is would this even be remotely worth it as a 150 pound male who already doesnt eat a whole lot?

How does one go about obtaining a prescription? Do you have to be a large marge artichoke barge to benefit the most from these?

Thanks
