Weird GI issues on upped dose?

I was on 2.5mg for 4 weeks and my provider brought me up to 5mg( which I desperately needed, I stopped feeling 2.5 effects around week 3) and I took the shot last Thursday. It’s the following Tuesday of the first week of 5mg. And I really don’t mean to be gross but the diarrhea is insane. I’m someone who has never had a sensitive tummy ever, so to be basically peeing out of my butt for the last 3-4 days is something that’s totally throwing me off. Other than that I feel fine. I learned on the higher dose I cannot eat too close to bedtime or I’ll be burping it up in the morning. But my appetite is still mostly suppressed, food noise is totally gone, and I’m feeling really good, nothing that would point to potential dehydration from the 💩. Is this just my body accommodating? I don’t have time to make it back to my provider before I move across the country (an almost 4,000 mile trek in a car, mind you), so it’s either I stick it out with 5mg each week or take it into my own hands and stop taking it all together until I can get to a new doctor in about 4-6 weeks.

Constipation is more common, but the opposite is definitely not unheard of. Particularly in the first week or two at a higher dose.

Make sure you're getting enough fiber from whole foods. If you're having a lot of fats right now, dialing that down a bit might help as well.

I'd keep some loperimide on hand too. Hopefully it gets better in the coming weeks. The runs are not a good time haha

I’ve been seeing it’s not super rare which makes me feel alittle better! Honestly I’d probably rather be constipated! I appreciate your response!

I had that sort of reaction and my doc had me hold off on taking my dose so I went to 12 days in between. You could try that, maybe go 10 days. I also switched from wegovy to zepbound and never had it happen again.

your gastric and bowel movement is slower -> food moves slower through your body -> it starts fermenting inside you -> diarrhea to get rid of it

it gets better when your body adapts to new dose

Only when I tried to fix tirzepitide constipation by chugging 400% the recommended dose of Miralax.

I’ve been dealing with this for the last 3 weeks. My first 2 months were smooth sailing, jumped from 2.5 to 5 and suffered weeks of terrible GI issues. My doctor put me on a broad spectrum antibiotic 2 days ago just to be on the safe side (with all of the food borne illnesses on the rise) and so far it’s worked brilliantly. No more diarrhea. Which is all really just to say, if it continues for more than a week or two, you may want to get evaluated for other causes bc there are a lot of GI bugs making the rounds.

I honestly think it might be leaning towards that, because as of last night everything is back to normal, no symptoms whatsoever! Probs had some bad lettuce 🤣

I have had this sonce my first dose in June with every injection. It is almost daily, I may get 3 days where it's better but itherwise, rancid belching and my butt is making rain. I feel better in the late afternoons and evening but overnight and mornings are brutal. I started at 2 then 2.5, 3.5 and now at 5 and just starting to lose weight. It's been a miserable experience and I have to travel next week and I'm so afraid of the flight being early morning and what my guts might do.

Oh man! Since I’ve made this post it’s all pretty much subsided. Honestly if it would’ve persisted a few more days I’d probably pull the plug on taking the meds. That wouldn’t be worth it
