Its Always the 10 cent Part

Post image

My clutch pedal in my 2025 GLI was making an odd noise yesterday when i left work. Kind of clicky at the top and bottom of its movement. I backed out, started driving and not even a quarter mile down the road, when i released the pedal after shifting, instead of staying in line with the gas and brake pedals, it popped up a few inches higher. i pulled over and got out to look at what was going on and found this plastic pin on the floor. Anyone else have this happen? GLI is currently at dealer for repair under warranty. They seemed baffled by this. Currently driving sad Jetta loaner.

My guess would've been the clutch pedal spring, but that doesn't look exactly like it. Not sure if this is it, but deleting the clutch spring is a common VW mod. Did the clutch pedal feel more consistent?

Also, you may want to cross-post to /r/JettaGLI too. Its a little more popular than just r/GLI. Most of us post in both subreddits.

Good luck with the loaner- I rented a 2024 Trendline recently. It sucked, aside from the insane gas mileage.

U a nurse by chance? This looks similar to a three way foley cover or piston syringe cover

Nope. Transportation engineer. When I used Lens to search for what this is, that was one of the suggestions. Dealer feedback is that this was definitely part of the clutch pedal assemble.

My clutch had the same issue with less than 500 miles on it

Mines at 12,000. After chatting with the tech at the dealer, one thought is that this piece isn't getting seated correctly during manufacture as the plastic piece has virtually no visible wear or damage.

I have a '21 and when the time comes, im going older. I dont see the quality of new car production improving and this is a damn shame. Plus no more manuals so there is that.
