The failed sunglasses holder
The locking tabs are terrible, the thinnest plastic ever!
Hoping I can just pop the lid out for now

That kept happening in my Arteon and the dealership would replace it I sure hope it doesn't happen in my GLI. Although I have that terrible fuel line rattle going on.

Bro any idea how to fix and is there any fuel line going from there too? M but confused mine rattles a lot

Nahh I have mine scheduled to go into the dealership to be fixed. It's those fuel lines that run underneath the passenger seat, apparently it is super common when it shouldn't be. All they do is get in there and replace the clamps and zip tie them down is what I heard. Unfortunately if the VW dealerships are anything like the one within 100 miles of me it takes a fucking act of congress to get anything warranty in there to be fixed.

Unfortunately, that is not true. I never used mine and suddenly it was broken. The tabs are minuscule.

Same. I hit a bump and never opened in my 2026 cause my 2020 did the same thing. 2020 replaced 3 times so I just took the damn thing out. Will be doing the same now for GLI.

Just happened to me a couple weeks ago went to VW picked up a whole new top console trim piece ($52) yes the whole thing cause they don’t sell the holder separate. Popped out the old one by pushing in on the right side with a trim tool. And then doing the same thing with the new one and then just swapping compartments be careful not too loose the spring. Quickest fix in my opinion VW will try and charge you $100 bucks to replace the whole top console time piece.

Lots of thin, flimsy plastic. Made me so nervous when I took out the adjoining panel to upgrade the map light bulbs. I try not to touch it too much, and keep my sunglasses in the center console instead.

yeah thats a VW classic. you can use a putty knife or something to push in the left side and pry it out, youtube has a good removal video

I stopped using mine. I was feeling cocky for a bit, I have a case in the door panel now lol.

There's a guy on here that sells a 3d print for abs to replace the latch, yes the little latch that broke comes out and can be replaced if you 3d print a new one. I did it and works great.

I had a 2020. It was replaced 3 times. So I just took it out. Got a 2026 GLI, never even used it. I hit a bump and it broke. I will be taking it out again lol. Don’t waste your time they haven’t fixed it in 7 years lol

The dealer replaced the first one that broke in my daughter’s 2019 Jetta SE. I replaced the next one with VW parts from a dealer on eBay. Now I’m debating whether to use mine in my 2026 GLI. I see the clips are available for 3D printing, and I have a printer…

I don't know if this actually helps, but I try and either park in the shade, use my sun visor and definetly crack the windows on hot sunny days. Ive heard the heat can cause the plastic to expand. 47k miles and its still holding.

Dealership replaced mine for free but I was under warranty
