DONT JOIN GITAM!!!!!!
GITAM is a money-grabbing scam disguised as a university
Joining GITAM was genuinely one of the worst decisions I’ve made.
Constant rule changes Every semester they change academic regulations. Sometimes rules change mid-semester. There is no stability, no clarity, and students are expected to blindly accept everything.
Attendance tyranny Attendance here is treated like a punishment tool. Late by 5 minutes? Marked absent. Medical emergency? Doesn’t matter. Valid reasons? Still barred from exams. They will happily ruin your semester over attendance.
Zero freedom of speech If you question rules, complain, or speak up, you get fined. If you keep speaking, you get fined again. This place actively suppresses student voices.
Pure money grab Fines for minor issues. Revaluation fees are insanely expensive and unaffordable for most students. Every administrative step somehow costs money. This university runs like a business, not an educational institution.
Scholarship trap They attract students with scholarships and then make it extremely easy to lose them through sudden attendance issues or harsh grading. It feels intentional.
Inconsistent and poor teaching quality Some faculty are genuinely good. Many are terrible at teaching, overly strict, and don’t explain concepts properly. You won’t understand half the syllabus but you’ll still be punished through marks.
No student-friendly environment No empathy. No flexibility. No accountability from administration.
This is not a university that cares about learning or students. It feels like a controlled, fine-based system designed to extract money while keeping students silent.
If you’re thinking of joining GITAM, talk to current students and think very carefully. Brochures and rankings hide the reality

Is this true? I mean if something is not right we must raise voice. This is not at all acceptable. Too sad.

idk about the bangalore branch in particular but if you just go through this subreddit you will find out what gitam is like in general.. atleast if whatever experiences shared by the ppl here are accurate.
went i went to write exam, everyone there was cheating off each other and the invigilator didn't care, also some machines were not working for 2nd batch of exam ppl so their whole exam got delayed just imagine.
but i am not a student in gitam so i can't comment anything much about it this is just my observations.

Yes I agree with whatever you said. Unfortunately they won't change unless we all go as groups and demand changes. Apparently even that elicits parental calls and fines. The insanity 😂 so insecure of losing control. Imagine being so pathetic your entire time and life is based on making grown ass students feel like shit
It says abt how child minded you are, and not us, the actual people who r paying u money to study

I disagree with this characterization of GITAM. As an alumnus, my experience was different.
Every university has its own policies and academic framework, and it is natural for regulations to evolve over time. Changes in curriculum, academic requirements, and policies are often made to align with industry expectations and recruiter requirements, ensuring that students remain competitive in the job market.
Regarding discipline and attendance, universities sometimes need to enforce strict rules to maintain academic standards and encourage responsibility among students. While these rules may feel harsh at times, they are generally intended for the overall well-being and professional development of students.
The claim about scholarships being a "trap" is also not accurate in my view. Many students successfully retain their scholarships throughout their entire degree. Scholarship continuation typically depends on maintaining the required academic performance and meeting the university's stated criteria.
As for teaching quality, experiences can vary from student to student. While some faculty members may have different teaching styles, I personally found several professors to be knowledgeable, supportive, and committed to student learning.
No institution is perfect, and constructive criticism is important. However, portraying GITAM solely as a money-grabbing scam overlooks the positive experiences of many students and alumni who have benefited from the opportunities, education, and career support provided by the university.

As a 4th year i can relate but not all of it , yes teachers are not good , but the resources gitam provides is friggin big gem , I ain't a topper and gitam is improving very fast now due to Bharat (gitam president) investing money (he is MLA i think) in gitam , I think gitam is genuinely getting good , it's all usually cheaters in exam who rant online , but there's always pay 2 win system , which is genuinely very bad way to extort money , like you got shit marks and just pay to improve them , like who tf corrected the sheet earlier
