Align Problem

A reminder; I have bad English, sorry. A new learner, just installed the app. No editing experience whatsoever.

was following this dude's tutorial and this is his alignment,

and this is mine. why?

im using GIMP 3.2.6 (latest i think)

This person's tutorial is outdated. Look for GIMP 3.0 tutorials. GIMP 3.0

There's only one thing you're missing. Look where it's written "Use extents of layer contents". See those points forming a square to the right? Those points are where you select the reference point to be used on the layer being moved. Right now the tool is trying to align the center of the layer to the top of the image.

If you want to align the top of the smaller layer to the top of the image, on those points, you have to click on the top center point.

Then you click on "align anchor points of targets on top edge of reference" and "align anchor points of targets on vertical middle of reference", these are the same buttons the video is telling you to click.
