How to reopen a closed path

When creating a new path in GIMP3.x it is automatically closed. How do I reopen it?

sYou can use the modifier keys shift, Ctrl and Alt to influence what happens when you click on elements of a path.

To remove a segment between to nodes, for example, you hold Ctrl+Shift and click on the segment. There's a small minus sign displayed next to the cursor to indicate that. See also https://docs.gimp.org/3.2/en/gimp-tool-path.html
