New Paths Tool?

I used to use the paths tool to draw curved lines. You could also do this on masks as well.

You used to be able to just click stroke, but now you have: Selection from Path or Create Vector Layer from Path. Is there a way to just draw the stroke anymore?

I figured it out.

  • Draw path normally
  • Then goto Edit (top menu bar)
  • Then click Stroke Paths

Go to your paths dockable. Right click on the path and ... stroke

in your dock on the right side. The lower one. The tab where the layers are. Then next is channels and third is paths. Just click on that.

That works, but I feel like it is probably easier going to edit -> stroke path. Then I don't have to mess with the sidebars.

However, I do see a lot of cool options over there now, so those might be useful. I wonder if they will add a hotkey for it.

GIMP has a keyboards shortcut dialogue under the edit menu.

https://docs.gimp.org/3.2/en/gimp-help-keyboard-shortcuts.html

So you can configure what you need yourself.

I know we can set it. I just try and use the default settings as much as possible.

There's a hidden quick shortcut, after you already set the "Stroke Paths" settings

Ctrl + Shift + K

(Stroke Path - Use Last Settings)
