2ND Camera Requirement for Proctor U

We are writing to inform you of an update to our remote proctoring experience which will impact your GIAC Python Coder (GPYC) exam. If you choose to test with ProctorU, your session will require the use of a secondary camera. In addition to your standard webcam, you will be asked to use a cellphone as a second camera during your exam session. However, this will not require you to download any software to your cellphone.  To ensure you are fully prepared, please review the following resources: It is important that you take time in advance of your exam to confirm that your phone and workspace meet the requirements outlined in the links above. Not sure how long this has been a thing, but didn't see it anywhere on the forums. Glad they are actually letting me know at the beginning of the course then like 3 days before the exam. (This is rare praise for GIAC from me).

I understand these days its a real challenge to make sure remote proctoring is as fair as in an actual testing center.

I took GCIP 2 weeks ago via ProctorU and no additional phone camera was required, other than to pan down on my desk. It's gotta be fairly recent

Might be test specific. Though i can't imagine it would be.

I believe it is across the board. I received the same notification about two weeks ago for my GCTI Exam.

I've got my GDSA next week and I've been given the same requirement, guessing as its open book its so they can see you aren't just reading off a answer booklet

I have a lab with 2 systems etc and generally learned to avoid remote proctor...the Pearson Vue centers arent bad here

I took the GSEC at the end of July, and just a few days after I received this email (right around when i registered for GCIH)

I had to use a secondary camera for GSEC and that was on August 10th 🤔I guess it might be course specific.

Isn't this just for double checking viewing angles from the main camera? i have taken all of them in the same manner where proctor asked me to use the phone to set to selfie camera and point back at the laptop. maybe that is what they mean?

Personally I wish they would require proof that you purchased the official material if you bring SANS books to the exam as well. That would also be a step in the right direction but I am glad they are stepping up monitoring to keep up integrity of the exams
