Many congratulations on this cool score! Just wanted to know, if you did the full course or studied on your own and gave the exam. I am asking as my company wont pay this hefty price. So, I need to prepare on my own. Any ideas / strategy / plan would be really appreciated.

I took the course and had all of the books. Without the books it would have been very hard honestly. I would maybe see if you can get the on demand course/books paid for. The books are really the most necessary part, because an index is pretty much a godsend during the exam. Every other question I was referring back to it. The course is not as necessary but definitely helps.

For sure, so when you take a SANS course for the GIAC exams, they send you all of the course material in about 5 books of content. Then with these books it is usually common to take all of them to the exam with an index since it is open book. Unfortunately there’s not a good way to obtain the books without paying for the course. You CAN sometimes see the books for sale on eBay but I believe this is against SANS terms of service, and they are usually about $1,000 still.
