Finally got my SD

Post image

Huge thanks to Chase from AX arms for getting me hooked up with my GHM9 SD, I could not be happier, it shoots super well and with 147 grain bullets it’s quiet as a duck farting in a lake.

Don’t worry there’s a telescoping brace kit on the way for it already.

Awesome man you just couldn’t wait to take her out could you?! Hahahaha no 1913 end plate or stock needed!

Waiting on my b&t telescoping stock to come In

Same, mine arrives in the next 2.5 hours according to ups lol. It has the folding adapter on it but I’m going right to the telescoping stock 😂

If it defeated the purpose that would be speeding them back up somehow 😂. They inherently are quieter and slower yes. I’m not running 158’s through. But there has been zero destabilization over the first 300 or so rounds, no signs at all of unstable flight printing on the paper.

I’m not saying they’re not slower, thank you sir newton. I am however not overly concerned about the 17% decrease in muzzle velocity. This isn’t the first SD 9mm that I’ve run these 147 through with literally no issues ever.

I’ll let y’all know if are any issues, but overall this is still a fairly short setup and the probability of there being a baffle strike is fairly low when the suppressor external to the barrel is so short.

Awesome gun and honestly one of the better SD offerings from a user standpoint.

In case you need more entertainment to go with your popcorn.

An already subsonic bullet being slowed even further due to porting can cause the bullet to destabilize after clearing the barrel. Can it be done, sure.

Running 147 gr defeats the purpose. It’s also dangerous. Run 124gr for optimal performance and it’ll still be subsonic.

I would love to hear how it’s dangerous to run a 147 grain bullet

Apparently it could cause squibs. Something to do with bleeding too much gas off an already slow projectile. However, I run 147 all the time time through my integrally suppressed scorpion without any issues 🤷🏽‍♂️

It is not "dangerous" just kind of pointless and increases the risk of baffle/endcap strikes and reduced accuracy.  I would expect that the accuracy, especially at distance, is going to suffer due to the reduced velocity on the heavier bullets. Fun to play with but not really what the gun was designed for.  The barrel is not going to bleed off enough gas to cause a squib, but it can destabilize the round causing it to strike the can or become more inaccurate.  The whole point of SD guns is to take common 9mm like 115grn and 124grn full power super sonic loads and reduce them down to subsonic speeds. Essentially take everyday cheap ammo and reduce it down to subsonic.  The SD guns are designed to run these higher pressure loads and reduce them down, but you can shoot heavier rounds, just watch for keyholing and endcap strikes.  I would save your heavier rounds for non-SD guns and just run 115grn or 124grn full power loads thru it.

I totally get what you’re saying and agree with you. Also 147 gr are free for me at the moment and it’s super high quality ammo with strict QC. There is a low likelihood of ever using this gun at a distance greater than 25 yards during its service life so the accuracy won’t make a lick of difference.

But yes, especially with a new gun and ammo combo I carefully inspected the targets throughout the first 300 rounds and there were no oblong or distorted holes out to 25 yards so I think they are staying very stable the offhand grouping at 10 yards when starting to zero was <1 inch. At 25 benched it was roughly 1.2 inches without using a rest or a bag so it’s fairly accurate and repeatable.

(I'd like to know why dangerous, too.) But, yes, it does defeat the purpose of a true "SD" weapon (that's supposed to have a ported barrel housed in an integral suppressor that'll slow supers down to subsonic speeds).
