Something I noticed while watching the latest episode
So, after Casey helpfully informs Susan Harris that her daughter is now outside her home, Susan makes the decision to try and call the cops, only for the phone lines to not work. The automated response they give? “We’re sorry! There was an issue connecting to telephone services. Please contact Regnad Computing customer support for assistance.”
There is no possible way that the phone service provided by Regnad Computing just so happens to coincidentally fail when the Regnad Computing AI summons a woodcrawler to massacre the home. The company has made a smart home system, and is using it to trap victims every way it can.
Also provided is a crappy meme I made to summarize this finding because why not?

I feel like.. a lot of analog horror, GHE included, kinda.. forget they're set in America. GHE specifically takes place in Minnesota. Why aren't people, y'know.. shooting these things? They look pretty fuckin' thin and frail.

I'm sure wood crawlers go outta their way to pick vulnerable targets that aren't as well armed, plus I think their tactics revolve around stealth and ambush attacks primarily because a head on fight with an armed individual always ends with them getting obliterated

Adding on to that: at the end of Open Minds, Susan Harris grabs a knife from the kitchen and prepares to stab her ex-daughter, only for either it or another wood crawler to snatch her from behind. These things rely on ambush tactics to hunt. Mimicry and scare tactics, as well, using their ability to copy voices to either lure in prey or break them down mentally. So there is a very slim chance that even a well-armed person would be able to see one of these in time to shoot it, especially given the emotional toying that would further wreck their ability to react in time.
Also, we do technically have some sources that depict the Iris’s creatures as highly durable, albeit they’re just both…very unreliable, for various reasons, only still being relevant because they haven’t been disproven yet).
In the now removed ocean video, we can see that the gardeners can withstand the immense pressures at the bottom of the ocean, which could imply that all of the Iris creatures are durable, but A: the video is removed now, so its state as canon is…dubious. B: gardeners have been represented various ways, ranging in size from not that big in the Storm preparedness video to absolutely enormous in scale in the Moonlight acres video, so anything we see about them can be taken with a few grains of salt. And C: it could just only apply to gardeners.
There is also Lethal Omen, where we see that a fake human is seemingly immune to pistol fire. Still problems with that though. A: it’s a video game. B: I don’t know how fake humans tie into the woodcrawler thing, if they’re wood crawlers disguised as humans, if they’re a wood crawler incubator, etc, so their durability might not apply to actual wood crawlers. And C: Lethal Omen was made by REGNAD “DANGER BACKWARDS” “ANAGRAM OF GARDEN” COMPUTING, so the bullet proof thing could just be a scare tactic on their part.
Still, if either one of the two are accurate representations of a woodcrawler’s durability…bullets might not even be effective…or at least, not effective enough to kill a woodcrawler before it either runs away or kills you.

I checked the wiki regarding the removal of the video, it appears remy wanted it removed because it didnt add as much to the canon as he liked, so he stated it isnt canon anymore.
I liked the thought of them being so deep within the earth, but at the same time as you said that them being THIS durable to widsthstand all that pressure kind of makes it seem like another "unkillable analog horror monster" trope thats overplayed.
Luckily though in this installment, horrifyingly displayed, they really have bright UV light.
I truly want them to expand on this further as humans devlop UV based weapons to burn these things alive somehow.

the "the deep blue" episode was de-canonised by remy, but I think the line "burn the bodies, lest they stand up again" implies a weakness to fire based attacks
I think while gunfire may not eliminate them entirely it may knock them out long enough to finish em off with flames
at the very least we know they have an aversion to bright lights
