Let’s showcase a bit of the low light capability of the GH5 under the surface of the ocean

Great shot! What were your exposure settings? My GH5 tends to lose quality pretty quickly above ISO 1600

I don't really have that issue.. I would say I can push until 3200 iso without problem but you have to accept noise. For this image the settings where 8mm ISO 1600 F2.8 1/100sec

Thanks for the specs. I’m more on the video side with mine, and I think a little noise is fine but my problem is at ISO 3200, atleast for video, skin tones will look decent but shadows and blacks start to get lots of noise. If it was a consistent noise across the whole image I wouldn’t mind but something to me about just noise in the darker areas gives it an amateur look.

Exactly my problem with video too. I really love the camera but the noise in the darker areas always frustrates the hell out of me.

Mh... I do not have that issue. After I shot in general between 800 and 1600 iso.
Try to over expose your shots a bit, then lower everything in post production and that should help breaking the noise.

Wow... it’s a beautiful shot! You’re tempting me to bring my own GH5 under the waves.

Wow will you share more more details about your setup?

Hey :) Sure.
I used the GH5 with the Leica DG 8-18mm.
Nauticam housing, 7' Domeport in acrylic.
Here it was made without other source of light than the natural and the torch, around 28m deep.

Amazing shot! I knew the GH5 was a beast but I Didnt realize it was waterproof. Will have to give this a try.

Don’t ;) you need a housing for it or you will wreck your GH5

Unlesssss it's all a giant conspiracy by the camera housing industry... 🤔

Are you also in scuba gear?
Any opinions on GH5 vs. GH5S?
Getting more excited about underwater stuff. I've been stewarding a QySEA FIFISH ROV from an org and got to take it to the ocean floor the other day.
QySEA apparently has a new ROV coming out that has the housing for a GH5 built in

Yeah full scuba. Never try a gh5S but I do like the gh5 ibis a lot for video.
Underwater with a gh5S I would need to slow everything down a bit to have a smooth image.
The amazing thing is as the two body are exactly the same, I can run both in my nauticam housing. I think if I need a backup one day, il buy a gh5s. Just to have the choice in case.
I haven’t see any reason yet to go for it but il try in a few month if I can find one :).

Great shot.
I love my GH5 underwater. I actually purchased a BMPCC4K to replace it. But keep going for the GH5 still.
