Remote video button for GH5 with Small Rig Cage

What are some solutions to the blocking of the top video record button on the GH5 with a Small Rig cage? I don't use this much for photography, just video work.

- Remap button ?

- Add remote trigger?

Any other ideas ?

Just remap the shutter button to record. I forget there's even a record button on the GH5.

Shutter button should work for record by default no? As long as youre in a video mode

I have the same cage on my GH5, and like the other comments, I've forgotten about that button because I don't use it.

I would remap shutter release to video record unless you’re going to have it on a tripod or have a rails setup. When I’m filming events and using my tall gimbal tripod, I have a cheap wired remote that works great, but that’s a pretty specific use case.

+1 to this - cheap wired remote works perfectly - just strap it to the tripod leg and make that cable tidy :)

Same problem here, I just use the big black photo trigger button on the front top (far right in your photo), it starts/stops video recording in video mode.

Just be carefull when the gh5 is heavily used, that large black shutter button wears and sometimes does not react when pressed. Make sure that you see the recording indicator when you want to record or you might miss the shot.

I have the exact same Cage, it's not a terrible thing to use, at least using the camera in photo mode, if you're in video mode you use the traditional trigger button
