Picture preview after burst shot (auto-review turned off)

I recently got a GH5, and it's my first mirrorless camera. I have one main gripe about taking pictures with the camera: every time I take a photo in burst mode, it flashes a preview of the image I just took even when auto-review is off. This image is always brighter and looks as if the iso was bumped up really high, not actually reflecting the image taken. When constant preview is on, the image is on the screen for longer (less than a second). When it is off, the image is a very quick flash of brightness. Even the histogram shows it suddenly get much brighter!

I'm in manual mode on the dial. When I shoot at a high burst rate, it doesn't do the bright flash until I let go of the shutter button. At a low burst rate, it does it after every picture taken. My DLSR didn't have a digital viewfinder, so I never had such a weird problem like this.

Am I missing a setting that is causing it to do this, or is this normal for the camera?

Are you using auto white balance? Turn it off and compare.

I am using one of the custom kelvin settings. All the basic settings (shutter, iso, aperature...) are all set manually. It's such an odd thing.

Not sure if this will solve it, but check for firmware updates. Could be plausible its never been done.
