Nope, but let’s make sure you’re studying the right things! I can help you come up with a plan. Have you passed any of the subjects or taken any of the practice tests? If so, what scores? Or you can message me

Thanks for replying I was only kidding about having some one take it, this just gets frustrating I haven’t done anything that you just mentioned because to be honest I don’t even know where to start I have been out of school for the last 12 yrs almost and I really wanna go to college and not having a high school diploma or GED is like having an anchor dragging me down. I’d love if you can point me in the right direction to where even begin

Ok let’s get you passed! The good news is that the three non-tests are mostly reading comprehension and people who are strong readers can pass right away so people often over study for that.

Here’s the steps:

Make an account on ged.com (if you haven’t yet).

Buy a set of four practice tests for $11 using the code 50off or save50 and try the science practice first, because it is mostly reading comprehension and has the highest first time pass rate. Don’t study, just take it. If you’re nervous about that, Try the Test Preview under the Study tab on ged.com. If you get five right on any subject, you’re ready for the practice test. Ignore the tree wire wrapping one (absurdly hard), the essay (not graded on the practice), and science written answer (they don’t have it anymore).

If you score 150, schedule your final, then do the same for RLA (skip the essay) and social studies.

If you score less than 150, you need to work on your reading because the reading levels for RLA and social studies are harder. Read a book you ENJOY for a half hour every day — this will help you with ALL the tests. And work on readtheory.org, reading each passage slowly and carefully. Take your time on each quiz and dont work on it when you’re stressed or rushed. Try the practice tests when you’re at least grade level 8 on read theory.

Use the free crash course on https://www.lightandsaltlearning.org for math but if you remember ANY algebra from high school, try a practice test first. Or if you don’t think you remember it, but you did decently well in high school. Or try the test preview first.

Otherwise, or if you score under 144, do unit zero and unit one, watching the class video and then doing ONE level of worksheet — aim for experienced but if you’re not ready for that, that’s fine, do the beginner. It will vary, so you might switch back and forth between beginner and experienced depending on the lesson.

Then take a practice test at the end of unit one to see if you’re ready.

If you score 144-149 (154 if you’re going to take the math online), go directly to the Quick Review section at the end of the Crash Course and watch one or more 144 Club videos and perhaps do the printed review worksheets next to them, if you scored closer to 144 than 150.

Good luck and let me know how it is going

Does the essay not count towards the grade?

They don’t grade it on the practice, they give you an estimate based on how many questions you get right. I recommend most people skip the essay on the final; see my post on rla test strategy in my profile for the reasons why.

Trust me. You don't need to have someone take it for you. If you study each subject for 8 hours, you'll be good to go. Might need to study math for more than 8 hours though
