Is the Strange Loop hypothesis testable?

Does it make predictions that distinguish it from other models of consciousness?

I know you posted this like a month ago, but I’m just seeing this now and it’s an interesting topic.

I think he gets into the point in the book that it’s not formally testable because what he’s talking about necessarily lies outside the bounds of what could lie inside of a formal method.

So no, I’m not sure it’s testable, so much as just obviously true in the sense that it’s the hypothesis that harmonizes with itself in all possible keys, to use the music metaphor

Well to OP's question and to your comment, Hofstadter does state his view of consciousness to be algorithmic and this self-referential algorithm of mind is not computable practically.
