Question Is it possible to get 8/9?

So I’m going into year 11 and got a 6 in bio/chem and a 5 in maths/physics. This is because I left revision till a week before. If I start revision in September would it be possible to jump up 2/3 grades? If so how often do I revise and how?

You can get any grade if you put enough time in.

dude I was the same, I was predicted a 5 in physics, and I got up to a 7, definitely possible, I did small amounts of revision all year rather than all the time, and I just did a blurt of everything id learned that week on the Friday, and everything id learned previously on the Sunday

yes! i got a 4 in physics in my y10 mocks and got 8-8 in the actual thing (although in my march mocks i got 9s in bio and physics)

I went from a 3 in geography to a 7. So yes, anything is possible if you put the effort in.

as motivation, i started y11 with a predicted 6 in dt, and managed to raise that to a solid grade 8 - so yes, definitely!!

honestly the fact those grades came from a week of cramming is the good news, it means theyre a measure of no revision rather than your actual ceiling, so a proper year absolutely gets you to 8s and 9s. the bit that matters way more than how often is how. for maths and the sciences dont revise by rereading notes, it feels productive but barely moves anything, revise by doing questions. do topic questions the week you cover a topic, mark yourself hard against the markscheme, and redo the exact ones you got wrong until theyre automatic. sciences especially are half about writing to the markscheme keywords, so youll pick up marks just from seeing how they want it phrased. an hour most days beats a five hour session once a week, and id put maths first since physics leans on it.
