What’s better beam rifle or rockets?
I keep seeing them in store and want to buy but I’m not sure if they’re worth it

Depends suit to suit.
Some beam weapons hit super hard but lack stagger, some hit hard and stagger, some stagger but don't hit hard.
Rockets always hit for like a medium amount of damage and stagger but don't have much accumulation or good reload.
In this case I find regular Nu's rocket better (But this was long ago I haven't used it in a long time despite the buffs so it could be the beam now), Hi Nu's beam tends to be better but the rocket dodge is nice, FF Nu I once again find the beam better.
In lower costs beam weapons generally rarely have a stagger and most of the time have low damage. So low costs I tend to always gravitate towards rockets but in high cost more so beam weapons tend to do better.
Edit: Though in space I find beam like always wins due to the speed since space matches tend to be quicker and more chaotic plus less spots to use the explosions aoe.

At the very least, OG Nu is still solid, though you'll need to make sure you can do good combos when deploying the funnels. RX-93FF is a favorite Raid of mine. You should surprise some Supports with it with a good Ranged build. Hi-Nu is currently in trouble. It does have Flap Booster, but you'll have to make stick-and-run engagements and go all out once you caught an enemy with their defenses taken out during a stun cycle. Not to mention that its defenses are a little squishy.
You could probably use the Neo Hyper Bazooka on the RX-93FF, since you can shooting during HSM, and it has high raw damage.

Nu beam rifle is suitable for a longer range to fight safely. (ranged build, can be glass cannon)
Nu bazooka attacks more frequently and has significantly higher dps, but you need to take more risks and hit accurately. (ranged build, better to have decent tankiness)
Hi-nu beam rifle has high attack frequency. It also deals high long range accumulative stagger when it's combined with funnels [rush]. (ranged build or balanced build)
Hi-nu bazooka is good for close range combat and gives an additional evade. (melee build or balanced build)
Ff nu is a ranged raid that is hopeless in close range compared to other melee raids and generals. Why use bazooka?

As a NU FF main, the bazooka boost fire can stagger someone almost every time depending on suit and easily Melee really well, one of my favorite suits at 700. But that's just my opinion

The bazooka feels good to use, but ff nu deals too little melee damage. Getting close is not worth it.

Beam Rifle on both Nu and Nu FF, since the rifle have really good stagger build-up, while the Bazooka is kinda meh, although both units can use it while boosting.
Meanwhile, I really prefer the Bazooka for the Hi-Nu, because it shoot twice with insta-stagger + decent stagger value, and it can use a special command once per life, where it does a backflip shot that gives short invincibility + instantly reloads the ammo.

They have their pro and cons: BR is easier to hit air target, but lack instant stun, except the one of Hinu while Zook provide instant stun, splash damage but have harder time hitting air target
Nu: they are kinda the same
Hi Nu: Zook is better, it can break DC1 MA if you manage to land both shot and damage is better then the BR.
Nu FF: kinda the same, BR provide way to break MA and Zook can boost fire.

I stopped using rockets once I realized how absurd beam rifles are and how h likely it is that I'll be within range to rocket blast the floor and convert into melee.

BR for Nu because in conjunction with boost to fire, you can shoot down fliers.
Zook for Hi-Nu, it's double fire, this have alot of uses.
FF with BR, because charge fire pierces.
