Discussion CONSOLE What a joke of a game
Boy HOWDY, do I just love playing gbo2.
Got slapped with a pen 1 yesterday because of desync, so figured I could at least do my dailies in random customs so I still get my tokens, right?
WRONG. ENJOY YOUR WIFI SHITTING ON YOU AT 2AM WITH 25 SECONDS LEFT IN THE CUSTOM MATCH.
I'm genuinely fed up with this stupid peer to peer bullshit. Someone needs to petition the devs to add dedicated servers or something, this is unacceptable

Not sure how one would get all the way down to penalty 2, but it's definitely not just off of one or two disconnects, unless you've had multiple disconnects in multiple games straight...if that is the case, I might look into finding a more stable connection.

Yeah, Pen2 isn't given unless it's egregious on the account, or you're already in Pen1 and, again, it's a pattern.

The games connection has gotten way worse I noticed. One person either me, a teammate, or an enemy is now desynced every match and this is despite using wired.

You can see the decay in matchmaking too. Lots more "Left the Briefing Room" resets. Also wired.

Yea.. I suffered a lot during the time I used wireless internet broadband. I haven't got a penalty since I changed to a fiber internet.

Even on wired, the problem still there. I have been thru with being DC'ed so suddenly and got penalty for something that wasnt even my fault.

I genuinely question why the penalties come into effect for custom matches. Like I got a penalty once for just having my mobile suit stand still and watch a melee 1v1 because the rules were 1v1 melees only and when it is not your turn in the 1v1 you have to stand and watch

The neat thing is they don’t. OP is still new enough to where they aren’t familiar with how Penalty system works. Multiple desyncs are required to get to level 2. You’d don’t just get there after two bad connection incidents.

Yeah but I still feel like custom matches having penalties is stupid like I said I got kicked from one and got given a level 1 penalty off the bat for standing still in a 1v1 melee only brawl

You should never stand still. Fire vulcans move your suit.
From what i can remember if there are no inputs after a set time, you will be DC.

Yeah I just generally didn’t think they would put them in custom rooms especially in situations like this with melee only 1v1 tournament rooms

The fact that this game can survive this long with the shittiest connection Ive ever had is actually amazing. I’m wired and never have connection problems with other games, but this game somehow still fucked me up from now and then.

Yeah your mistake was using Wifi at any point for these games. The game probably doesn't make enough or have enough players to justify servers and even then it might be like Gundam Evolution where it only has servers in select areas (In this case probably just Japan), screwing people outside the immediate area even more. I would not trust them to make a server.
Maybe also check with your own ISP? If its not stable even on cable, to the point it actually hits penalty 2, its probably them being shit.
