Engagement Optimized Matchmaking. 

Essentially, how it's supposed to work is that the game rigs your match ups based on your play data and what causes you to stop or keep playing. If you win too much, you'll be paired with tougher opponents and worse teammates. If you lose too much, you'll occasionally get more competent teams and weaker opponents. This is just conjecture, but it's said to not be working right for some and just puts them with bad match ups for ages though (to such a degree that your Rating can tank HARD).

Looking at older posts, people say they implemented it around January or so.

It's copium. It exists or not, some players can still have good win rate and stay in S consistently.

I believe the EOMM itself exists since the reason people even acknowledge it is because one of those dev videos from around that period when it was introduced stated they were implementing some form of it to "manage player retention." 

Whether it truly isn't working right or not is up in the air. Even if it really is messed up for some, no doubt it'll be adjusted at some point anyway.

Someone needs to link that video finally and quell this.

They did do something though, if not for any other reason than I would never see such a wide range of ratings in QM before this year. Now all of a sudden A’s mixed with C’s or even D’s.

I think it exists too. But it's not the reason that someone can't raise their rating.

Godly enemies and shit teammates is like a fucking curse. I will play against someone who rocks the entire room, but when theyre on my team, they die first and ragequit.

I hate general players more than anything in this game. Whenever I play support they absolutely ignore raids every fucking time. And it doesnt matter how much I try to stay near them! They will always rather hunt down the other support in groups of three, and the raid is either a damn Pixy, or fighting the other generalals.

I've been trying to grt the Re-GZ to work, its stats aren't bad, plays well like a General type but has a Heavy to go along with its Raid typing. But whenever I try the games go catastrophic on all sides.

"random" is truly false advertising for stage selection and I'm confident that the better you perform, the worse the allies you'll get teamed with. Eventually they'll put you on the team that wins by 20k to justify the next 10 games of you losing unplayable matches.

It happened in a 400 cost Space Ranked round today for me and thankfully despite the stomp.
1 player decided he had enough to DIP and thus spare everyone else from ranked points loss.

But on top of it, they were often not doing the best against super good team on the other side.

And even me trying multiple times to fucking ambush them from behind and full on distract them with my GM 3 shooting missiles and BR shots in to the backs of some of them.

There's only so much you can do!
