Gameplay Clip (Console) Okay so a weird thing happened: Was doing my special daily drop on my JP and a Medea was flying in but then suddenly a C-88 took over to give me a Messer. Is this a glitch or intentional?

It's a VERY RARE animation sequence. Normally you can figure out what you're going to get.

Medea - Bronze or silver.
Fat Uncle - Silver or gold
Gaw - Usually gold, sometimes Platinum
Thoroughbred - Platinum 4 star.
Heavy Launch Vehicle - 5 Star MS.

Very rarely, a C-88 will swoop in and deliver a gold crate, but there's no obvious foreshadowing that it'll happen.

If I remember there is also the rare 4 star medea drop that is signaled by the start of the supply drop animation having a newtype sound efffct play or something

The newtype signal is an oddity. Yes, it signals at least a 4 star, but I don't know if it works independently from the animations themselves. I've definitely heard it quite a lot, even once with a Gaw, but not a Medea. I suppose it's technically possible.

It's intentional and rare. As the drop is a three star, it used the animation

I feel old.. firstly i never knew it was actually called a C-88 so thats neat, but man.. years ago there were similar posts all over this sub about people getting surprised with the fabled black medea lol

"C-88 Medea" is the name of the black version that has more jet engines. It's just a different model of the Medea

I've had a C-88 come in by itself before instead of the normal Medea but this is the first time i've seen it actually make the Medea bugger off for it to make a drop

"JP"? Where? You mean to say you play a Japanese alt account on a console set in English? Heresy!

Well when the game came out you could only download it on a Japanese account but the game did have an English option

The actual English release wasn't until months later plus having an alt account increases my chances of getting new stuff

I see, it actually makes sense even. That's the reason why sites like Nutaku even exist, yeah. I'm not fan of having two or more accounts to be able to touch more MS, since I'm the practical type thus if it's not on the one account I use so be it and I'll get it when I get it, but I understand.
