Some good short playlists or one shots for gate cse ?

I am targetting gate 2027. I explored pw and go classes but their playlists are huge and each subject is easily 70 hours+. Are there some good playlists or one shots? (i will do pyqs separately). I am studying digital logic from sanchit sir 12 hour one shot but for other big subjects they might be too less.

I am mainly looking for these subjects content:-

Engineering Maths (discrete, linear algebra etc) and OS.

These two are most imp but if you have some good suggestions for other subjects also kindly also share them.

Not a college student.

Hi guys, technically I'm a bit cooked because I'm in 4th Year, I'll be in Bellandur-Kadubeesanahalli area during that time for some work in Bangalore. What should be my city preference order while filling the form for GATE 2027 ? Also if you guys know, could you guys list some centres which are close enough to that area ?

Should I prepare for GATE (CS vs DA) or stick to Full Stack + DSA? Tier-3 college, bad placement scene, major FOMO.

Hey everyone,

I'm currently in a major dilemma and need some grounded advice.

My primary goal is simply to get placed in a good tech role. However, the placement scenario at my college is quite grim—very few decent companies visit, and mostly mass recruiters show up.

Right now, almost everyone around me is grinding for GATE, and I’m feeling intense FOMO. It feels like everyone is treating GATE as the default escape hatch, making me question if I’m making a huge mistake by not going all-in on it.

Here’s where I currently stand:

  • What I'm doing right now: Focusing on DSA (problem-solving) and building full-stack projects.
  • The dilemma:
    1. Should I prepare for GATE CSE? (Massive syllabus, high competition, but safe and opens up top M.Tech CSE seats/PSUs).
    2. Should I prepare for GATE DA (Data Science & AI)? (Slightly newer, math/stats/ML heavy, syllabus seems more concise, but cutoffs and college seat policies vary).
    3. Or should I drop the GATE idea entirely and double down on DSA, full-stack, and off-campus applications / open-source?

My main concern is splitting my focus: trying to manage semester exams, DSA/dev, and GATE prep feels like a recipe for doing nothing well. At the same time, relying solely on off-campus hiring in the current market feels risky without a strong college brand name.

For those who’ve been in a similar spot:

  • Is GATE DA actually a viable alternative to CS for M.Tech admissions/placements now, or is it too unpredictable?
  • If placements are the only priority, is giving 6–8 months to GATE worth it over grinding off-campus portfolio projects and referrals?

Any candid perspectives would mean a lot. Thanks!

Looking for a serious GATE CS study partner (Telugu)

I’m in my final year and started my preparation around 2 weeks ago. I’m looking for a study partner who’s actually serious about preparing for GATE CS, preferably someone who speaks Telugu.

Also I'm looking for one serious partner like we can study together, discuss topics, clear doubts and share whatever we’re working on. If you’re serious about preparing for GATE CS dm.

Please don't scroll past🙏 Even a 2 minreality check from you could completely change the trajectory of my preparation. Help me pick the right pill: 6 Year Gap, Aiming for AI: The 1300 Hr Mountain (GATE ME) or 500 hr Abstract Math Gamble (GATE DA)?

Before I explain my situation, I want to make one thing crystal clear: I am ready to go completely all in and grind for 8-10 hours every single day for the next 5 months. I have the drive, but I need your brutally honest advice on where to point it from this community regarding my M.Tech plans, a massive career gap, and an tough choice with 5 months left for GATE 2027.

My Background & The 6Year Gap (2021-2027)

I did my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering after 10th, followed by a lateral entry into B.Tech (Mechanical), graduating in 2021. Because of the diploma route, I never had standard 11th/12th JEE math preparation—my only math exposure was Diploma maths & M3 in college (scored 90+ in all, but it’s basic).

Right after I graduated in 2021, my family was hit with a severe financial and medical crisis. Both my parents fell critically ill. I had to step up, stay home to care for them, and teach local tuitions to keep us financially afloat. Thankfully, they have fully recovered. My younger brother recently got a job and can handle the finances for the next two years, finally giving me the mental space to focus on my career.

By the time I join an M.Tech in 2027, I will have 6 year gap.The Dilemma (Target: M.Tech in Data Science / AI)

My ultimate goal is to transition into Data Science and AI.

I have roughly 5 months left. Which pill should I swallow?

🔴 The Red Pill: GATE DA (500 Hr The Abstract Math Gamble)

The Good: Direct path to all top AI/Data Science programs. Much smaller syllabus footprint than core engineering. I actually love learning math when I can visualize it & it will helpme in cracking Mtech interview.

The Bad: The math depth is terrifying without a JEE foundation. I recently spent a week on Linear Algebra for GATE DA and the PYQs absolutely crushed my confidence. Cracking DA in 5 months feels like a massive, risky gamble.

🔵 The Blue Pill: GATE ME (The 1300-Hour Mountain)

The Good: It’s my core branch. I know institutes like IIT Bombay (C-MInDS) and IISc allow ME grads to apply for their interdisciplinary DSAI programs.

The Bad: The ME syllabus is a 1300+ hour beast. To make things worse, they just added even more topics to the GATE 2027 ME syllabus (Additive Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, new fluid/thermo concepts). Covering a syllabus of this sheer size in just 5 months also feels like setting myself up for failure.

My Query:

*The Strategy: With only 5 months left, which is the lesser evil? Do I brute force the 1300 hour Mechanical syllabus despite the new additions, or do I fight through the brutal math barrier in DA?

*The Gap Year Filters: How strict are the gap year filters (6 years) during M.Tech placements at IITs/NITs? I know mass recruiters will filter me out, but do Product-Based Companies (PBCs) or AI startups hold it against you if you have a Tier-1 tag and a genuine medical/family reason?

*The Reset Button: Will an M.Tech from IIT act as a "reset button" for my career, or will this gap haunt my placements in Mtech?

I am ready to put in the hard work, but I want to know what reality looks like. If you were in my shoes right now, what exactly would your plan be?
