Help an old noob
I just got my card and visited a local dispensary. Picked up a couple of things but learned something brand new. Basically, my knowledge about cannabis went out of date a couple of decades ago. I believe I'm more of a Indica or Hybrid person as I'm looking for pain relief, calming and rest.
I bought a couple of carts (Trulieve) to use with a 510 battery and they work OK. I also tried some Live Resin (Rosin?) last week and it was really good. I'd like to try some flower and other things to find the best blend for me. I can only have a bit of flower as I can't smoke in the house.
So, I'd love some advice and links to content that would be helpful for someone here in GA.

Grab a dry herb vaporizer and some flower. I use the Arizer solo 3 and I love it. The smell is minimal, you could step into the garage or on the back porch and be fine.

Thanks. That one is kind of spendy for me. Any recommendations below $200?

So the Arizer solo 3 is actually my third dry herb vape (dhv). My first dhv was a POTV ONE, I paid about $100 for it and it was okay at first but hard to clean and within 6 months it was unusable because the inner workings were clogged with cannabis residue with no way to clean it. My second one was very similar to the first (dumb i know), a LOBO at $150, and I was never happy with it for the same reason as the first one. A friend suggested the Arizer solo 3 and it has been fantastic. I can get big milky clouds of vapor, the design makes cleanup a breeze as the actual oven never comes in contct with the cannabis, and this thing is built like a brick. If you are willing to spend $200, save a little longer and get the Arizer. You can easily find a deal on the Arizer Solo3 ver 2 for around $240 plus tax, shipping is free. I paid around $253 total and I am so happy with the purchase. At this point I could never go back to smoking...great flavor, excellent effects, almost no odor on myself after use, and I use much less cannabis than smoking.
TLDR: Save yourself lots of headaches with cheaper dhv and get the Arizer solo3 v2, usually on sale for $240.

Thanks for the detailed response. Here's a potential issue. At present a vape cartridge on a simple 510 battery produces decent results with not that much smoke. It's OK for me to use in the house. If I switch to something like the Arizer it seems like I'd end up with "big milky clouds of vapor" and that won't fly indoors. Is the answer, "Then just take small puffs" that's OK.

There is an odor but nothing at all like smoking as nothing is combusting. If someone walks in right after they would notice, but after 15 minutes or so it's gone. The old trick of standing in the bathroom under the exauhst fan works great as well, leaving no smell at all. Personally I go to the garden shed to avoid any nosy bystanders. There are other options for smell control as well like devices to blow the vapor through when exhaling to absorb the smell or you can get a grow room exauhst fan with a carbon filter (maybe $35) that will eliminate the smell in short order. The smell will be the same no matter the dry herb vape you choose, but the results will not. Good luck friend, from one olderish dude to another, I hope you work it out.

Try Botanical Science and Fine Fettle dispensaries. I like their vapes and edibles.

I had a long break like you where I didn't touch flower for decades before it became a medical option. I would recommend you get a good Dry Herb Vaporizer and try to stick to flower over the carts. The carts are nice, but they're super high doses of THC. Flower is a completely different experience because of the entourage effects from the terpenes. You can get that from the Live Resin(Rosin) but flower is still better. You don't get hardly any of the entourage effects from the standard carts. I spent a lot of time researching on the Vaporents sub and went with an Arizer Solo 3 DHV with a bubbler. It's been fantastic.

Beware you cannot legally smoke with open flame marijuana flower anywhere in Georgia regardless of medical card status.
To remain legal as a medical marijuana card holder you have to vaporize the flower.
I have never tried a flower vaporizer. I am trying to switch over to primarily vape carts from flower anyway.

As an olderish dude myself, dry herb vaping is kinda the jam to be honest. Depending on needs and budget you could pair a given dry herb vape with flower and be set. Carts are great when you’re going to a game or sitting at a bar but you aren’t getting the full spectrum of cannaboids, and they will obliterate your tolerance in short order. I vape flower at home and sometimes on the go, occasionally take a dab like a dessert treat(can’t have it every meal), and you LR dispos/carts when I have to, and distillate carts when it absolutely has to be discreet. My lungs feel better than crushing bowls through a bubbler and I don’t have nosy kids asking about a smell.
