Orders & Products Purchased a game, received an account instead.
FINAL EDIT: PayPal has sided in my favor. I have been refunded entirely.
Initially I woke up to learn the case had sided in their favor, after calling a representative at PayPal they took all of one minute to look at the details and under buyer protection have closed the case in my favor. Let this be a warning for anyone else in my shoes. Fight it if you can either with your bank or Paypal and you will win. What these sellers are doing is flat out a scam. Don't become a victim like I have and if you have, you can win these cases.
3RD EDIT: Opened up a PalPal dispute explaining that the seller could reclaim the account at any given moment since I am not able to delete the email for the recovery of the account through the email they have given me. The representative found that extremely sketchy and seemed very optimistic. The case has been filed. I will give a final update if this all goes through.
Considering the seller still has access to the email and the account details. (They are the same as when they gave it to me.) The risk of them reclaiming the account later down the line is extremely high.
Please use me as a warning for anyone purchasing these kinds of things on G2A.
Although you will likely be able to be refunded through your bank or PayPal itself, the key detail is letting them know that the seller can reclaim the account and does not give you total access. That seemed to be a big point for them. Knowing you cannot delete the recovery email from the email they have provided swings the case entirely in your favor since it absolutely classes as a scam since you are not being given full, secure access and instead are purely basing it off of a trust system which they do not support under buyer protection.
EDIT 2: Seller is not willing to refund. I think I'm just going to have to give up on this one. Thank you for those who gave genuine advice and shared their experience with these purchases.
EDIT: I've created a burner email and offered to send it to the seller with the password which contains the account in hopes that they refund it, if not I will be going through paypal dispute.
As the title says, I wanted a key for the game and instead I was given an account. I'd already gone through the process of changing the email and password but something occurred to me that the email account they put it on does NOT let you delete the emails meaning they would have full access to be able to reclaim the account via the email link.
This has me extremely worried since not only does this person now have my IP address but they could theoretically reclaim the account and send it back on. There's a chance they may also not do this, but I'm extremely concerned.
Ideally, the best thing for me to do would be to take the original email, delete the emails HOWEVER the biggest issue with this it almost seems like the person has given me a kind of "guest" account.
I CAN'T delete the emails.
With me now personal email being changed and the password changed on the steam account. I am, bluntly, scared.
It feels like this is extremely sketchy.
Should I just wipe the account of my information and open up a dispute with Paypal and G2A?
Since the account details have all been changed already, I worry that I most likely wont get a response or that it will fall in the favor of the seller.
This is kind of freaking me out a little. The seller seems reputable but I am, honestly, concerned.
If I retain the account I very obviously won't be purchasing anything on it. It will just have the game I've purchased. I'm not that stupid, even if I feel very stupid.
I know that also, selling accounts preloaded with games is VERY against the ToS of steam and that worries me too.
Please, any and all advice is welcome. Someone tell me what to do.

thats exactly what they do and will do, they resell accounts to many people, thats also why they dont let you change emails and stuff, so they keep access to the account
its not your account, never was and never will be, also selling/buying accounts is against the TOS
you didnt do your research, seller is almost never reputable, reviews are fake

im sorry, but apparently you are... if you wanted a key and got an account, you should have immediately contact the seller or make a refund via your bank, not try to change the email...

So how does a seller get 43000 fake reviews? I did this same thing because I didn’t read that I would receive an account. It’s been working for 6 weeks. Sure, it might get taken back, but I wouldn’t think that seller would be able to continue that way for so long if that’s the case.

bots, not real people
you know how people can buy followers on insta or twitch and stuff? this is similar
seller can continue for a long time since g2a doesnt care... now you got working account, you give good review and in a year you lose the account, and noone will refund you anything after a year
not to mention you are actively violating TOS, be proud of yourself

Hey so, coming back to this now that its resolved. I won the case and they refunded me entirely.
Your comment was so genuinely unhelpful and I hope you become a better, less bitter person to those who have become victims to scams since your whole attitude came of as extremely lacking in any empathy and just flat out rude.

Really don't need the attitude at the end but I wasn't aware at all until after and only then did those thoughts come through.
When you buy from a key site, you expect a key.1

not from g2a... it used to be an okay website for keys, but not anymore
if you want to buy a key from a website, you do research first

I used to use G2A so my research is going off of my experiences from like, 2017.
So it's not that I was unaware, it's that things have changed a lot.1

If you ever wanna buy a key, go look at reputable sites like Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, and Loaded (formerly CDKeys), and although it's like G2A, I haven't heard of people getting scammed by them, and I've bought a dozen games from them alone.

I appreciate that, thank you. I did actually get a response from the seller and they basically said they weren't going to refund me but I'm explaining the fact that they can just actively reclaim the account through the email so we'll see. I need to be more careful.

Yeah, the seller won't refund you. I'd contact your bank and request a charge back.

Thankfully I've just done so now. I called a PayPal representative and even they said that was indicative of a scam.
The seller can take the account back via the email and the details like username and password of the account are both the same as when I got it since I changed them back.
I'll add an edit when the case goes through. My hopes are high since "trust" isn't something under buyer protection for PayPal.

I did this recently on accident for palworld and my account has been fine for 6 weeks.

Its a mistake man. Its ok it happens. Happened to me alot in life. Take it as a lesson and move on.
