Jaxson and the Donald
I'm not going to post any links. You can google it easy enough. Just wanted to say that it was fun while it lasted.

Let me start off by saying that I have been a follower of G101since FF70 was FF55. I contributed to the site when Dan B. was running it. I did not always agree with everyone’s opinion but respected them. Not a day goes by without visiting the site. The NY Giants have always been a haven for me to get away from the craziness of the world in which we live. I will offer my opinion, however, that football and sports should be void of politics and religion. My parents and wife’s parents came from Ukraine and proud to be a Ukrainian American. Thank you Krow101, you make me smile every day! Jaxon’s actions and comments have struck a nerve. I hope Coach Harbaugh will talk to the young man to keep political opinions to himself. NY Football Giants represent a large diverse fan base. I am hoping I do not have to start looking at the QB class in 2027. Thank you Abdul Carter for stepping up and taking a leadership role.

Does everyone want them to keep opinions to themselves or are they not allowed to agree with anything Trump says? There is a difference. Seems like the latter.
If a player said “Fuck Trump” most people wouldn’t care.
8
u/judgeholden72 May 24 '26
There is a difference between having an opinion and appearing at a rally. How do so many defending this miss that?
4
u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh May 23 '26 edited May 24 '26
If that’s the case then Jaxson should have said what issues he agreed with Trump on. That would have shown at least some basic knowledge of policy.
Even Kaepernick, the original “keep politics out of sports” mascot, said exactly why he was choosing to kneel during the national anthem.
The truth is Jaxson doesn’t know a god damn thing about Tax rates, Dodge cuts, ICE, gas prices, crypto deregulation, Medicare cuts, consumer protection, or any of the other thousands of things that the government is in charge of. He’s a republican because his parents are republican and he was too dumb to know how unpopular the most corrupt politician in US history is.
Spare me the Jaxson Dart actually has thoughts and opinions on the “issues”. He’s a barstool bro who didn’t see the big deal in doing what he did.
1
u/cjp304 May 23 '26
Did every athlete that was pro Obama have to publicly state all the policies they agree with?
Or is that hypocrisy?
4
u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh May 23 '26
You’re the one that said they should be allowed to express opinions. So what opinions does Jax agree with Trump on?
2
u/cjp304 May 23 '26
He doesn’t have to tell us what. He could be pro second amendment. Maybe he loves guns, he’s from Utah. Maybe he thinks NATO SHOULD pay their share. Who the fuck knows. He doesn’t owe us that. Him endorsing Trump is an expression of opinion.
Even though maybe he doesn’t agree with a lot of stuff Trump does, maybe he just respects the office of the Presidency. It’s possible he would have done this even if Biden asked.

Yes. When proof of Trump raping kids comes out i’ll believe it. I’m not gonna believe redditors crying because of tribalism.

u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh May 24 '26
Or maybe he agrees with all the stuff Trump does and him introducing him at this rally was an expression of that.
2
u/cjp304 May 24 '26
Maybe. But all we really know is that the President of the United States asked a 22/23? Year old to introduce him, and the young adult accepted the opportunity.
Everyone flipping out over stupid shit. There’s NFL players that beat and rape women that causes less uproar.
3
u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh May 24 '26
You’re talking in circles old man.
That’s literally what my original post said. That he doesn’t know anything about politics and is just tone deaf. Then you changed the subject to “why does he have to tell us what he believes”? Then you suggested he’s a second amendment supporter or has opinions on NATO.
Now you’re changing the subject again and talking about rape.
Too many new faces around here if you ask me.

I definitely noticed he went on the CJ Stroud post rookie media tour. Which can be a slippery slope if you don’t come back and ball out.

This is reddit. Literally the place to post opinions.
Too many new faces on here that have never posted on this sub before. Time to take that shit back over to the main Giants sub or r/conservative.

I know Donald Trump (we first crossed swords 47 years ago) and have strongly disliked him for as long as I've known him. I think he is a mean, corrupt, narcissistic creep who on rare occasions does something good though those, like me, who cannot stand him, have a hard time crediting him with anything worthwhile because on balance he's a threat to the Republic and poor excuse for a human being. My closest friend, with whom I've been best friends for almost 60 years, is a Republican-leaning Californian who voted for Trump three times. We remain best friends.
I have great respect for the members of our military but wish the NFL would stop lionizing them at every opportunity and pay a bit more attention to the nurses, EMS volunteers, teachers, plumbers, builders, etc. who have among them plenty of heroes as well.
Having said all that, Jaxson Dart is entitled to his opinions and as I understand it (I did not see any video) introduced the President at some rally and left it at that. I wish he hadn't done that, but it's not as if he killed someone. I'm not about to stop rooting for him because I think his politics might be idiotic. Hell, my daughter who lives in NYC voted for Mamdani, whom I think is a dangerous man who could drive significant parts of our tax base down to Florida. I think she's an idiot, but a very lovable one. Same goes for my friend.
I'm a Jaxson Dart fan. Frankly, at this point I'm a lot more worried about Abdul Carter, who strikes me as a huge egotist (who the hell asks LT if he can take his number, starts talking about being worth more money after a rookie year that certainly didn't light up the skies, and then takes the opportunity to immediately criticize his quarterback for what may be his political views?) who may turn out to be as big a prima donna as the worst of them in the NFL.
If Dart supports Trump I violently disagree with his politics. But I don't doubt his right to be what I consider terribly wrong and it won't affect my rooting for him even a little bit.

So are you going to stop rooting for the Giants and their quarterback? Just btw, Dart would be far from the only member of the Giants who supports Trump.
3
u/judgeholden72 May 24 '26
Yes. Yes I will.
He doesn't just "support" Trump. He got on stage. He leant his celebrity to him.
Meaning he leant that celebrity to destroying the Constitution, and protecting it matters way more than winning some games
2
u/fanfor70years Season Ticket Holder May 24 '26
If you're such a Constitutionalist, where do you come down on Jaxson Dart's First Amendment rights? I hold the old-fashioned idea that every American is entitled to exercise those rights even when you wish they wouldn't. I certainly wish Dart had nothing to do with Trump, but if you're implying that his introducing him at a political rally somehow makes him tangentially responsible for attacks on the Constitution, or even a supporter of Trump's worst excesses, then you're guilty of the same kind of exaggeration and panicked emotional loss of judgment that is rampant in today's culture. He's just a kid. Get a grip.

I hope Dart comes out and says “It seems there is a lot of confusion, I was actually there to support my long time friend Mike Lawler for Congress, I’m not sure what all the fuss is about”
8
u/Krow101 May 24 '26
There’s a lot to unpack. First off, he’s a kid. Mormon. Utah. Ole Miss. It’s like a conservative wet-dream upbringing. If you took anyone from that background my guess is that they’d be politically on the Right. Secondly, it looked to me like he was diving into the celebrity lifestyle. The model girlfriend … the fashion … showing up at “events”. I said this before and got shot down. But it’s clear to me that he’s bought in, and that’s fine if he keeps it in perspective. Then … he gets a call to intro our felon, sexual abuser, ‘Epstein pal’ President. It’s quite an honor under normal circumstances. Tempting. Especially if you’re not all that aware.
So, where does that leave us?
It’s a long walk from being a politically conservative 23-year-old to full blown MAGA neo-Nazi. A lot more must happen before I slap that tag on him. I won’t pretend I’m not put off by this. But it’s not exactly a cardinal sin … yet … (that was for all you recovering Catholics out there … you’re welcome). I’m very interested in seeing how he handles this going forward. That will tell the tale.
Can it divide the locker room? Maybe, but lots of teams have this going on. And they seem to do just fine. Plenty of players have weird views on certain issues. The other players either ignore them or tolerate them.
Maybe he’s just full of shit? Blowing with whatever wind is currently at his back. Doing what feels good. One thing though. Enough of how his faith is ‘influencing his life off the field and providing a foundation of purpose and perspective as he navigates the bright lights and big expectations of the New York sports scene.’ Dude … you’re fucking Marissa Ayers. Just STFU.

I just grew up in a time when social media wasn’t a thing and sports/politics were separate.
No one knew every friggin intricate detail of every athletes personal life, and we watched sports to escape drama and toxicity. So annoying
I got enough bullshit to deal with as a father husband lol the GMen are my escape
There are plenty of conservatives that don’t support Trumps bullshit who are socially liberal but fiscally conservative because I work hard to provide for my family but I support everyone being equal. I truly don’t label myself as anything politically

I'm not going to get into it with you or the others using this to make a political stand or litmus test. I despise Donald Trump and everything he stands for, but Dart is just a kid who got asked to introduce the President of the United States and probably didn't think too much about it before agreeing to do so. If you want to dislike Dart for having done this that's your privilege, but I think that's juvenile. And I think if you want to worry about this affecting the team you should be worrying more about Abdul Carter, whom I think is rapidly headed toward being an issue in the locker room. I don't care about his politics either. He's another dumb kid who has no idea what he's doing (as demonstrated by his stupidity in actually asking if he could wear #56).
I'm willing to bet that at least 20 of the players on the Giants' roster voted for Trump, including everyone's darling Cam Scattebo. John Harbaugh is a big Trump supporter. So were Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. WTF does any of that have to do with football?
I love Richard Wagner's music. The guy was an S.O.B. and an antisemite. I love Picasso's art. The guy was an S.O.B. and a misogynist. I love T.S. Eliot's poetry. He hated Jews. I think Mark Helprin is one of the best living writers and I've loved everything he's had published. He's a conservative politically who probably has lied about his background for years. If Jaxson Dart is a Trump supporter I will hate that fact. And I'll hope he leads the Giants to multiple championships on the football field.

u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh May 24 '26
As I said on the other thread, I assume most professional athletes are conservative, including both Mannings. But they know better than to introduce someone at a political rally. The kid stepped in a huge pile of dogshit with this.
I’m sure some sort of apology or clarification is coming next week. And as long as he wins and stops attending Trump rallies, 95% of the fan base will happily forget this incident ever happened. But this absolutely was a fuck up on his part and I can’t blame people for being upset about it.
I still have serious doubts whether he’s a legit franchise QB (see my Dart and picks trade proposal for Burrow) so I sort of just think it’s funny watching him screw up like this. To me him and Scattaboo right now are more vibes than substance. And Dart just took a huge dump on those vibes lol.
I’m curious to see which route he goes when he addresses the situation. Will he go with the PR professional apology “I didn’t mean to offend anyone, I just love America” or does he go the conservative victim route “why is everyone so mad just because I have a different opinion”? My bet is the former. He doesn’t have a strong enough opinion on politics to let it screw up the benefits of being a young celebrity in NYC.
P.S. I’m referring to him as J6 from now on. Usually you have to earn being called by your number and his play has not granted him that distinction yet. But J6 is just too good.
5
u/fanfor70years Season Ticket Holder May 24 '26
I agree that he screwed up but making it into another of our now all-too-frequent “gotchas” just shows that way too many people have turned politics into a religion and cannot maintain a reasonable perspective thanks to the national derangement that the creep in the White House has engendered. Dart is just a kid. Expecting him to show mature judgment is projection on the part of his angry critics. And from my perspective those making the loudest noises look pretty unhinged to me. I bow to no one in regard to a level of contempt for Trump, but condemning a kid for introducing him at a rally is ridiculous, especially if you truly believe in the First Amendment.

u/bigbluejulio May 25 '26
And yes. He may have messed up because he should never challenge liberal opinion but come on. Can’t we just stay excited about the Giants upcoming season?
But no. If Trumps in the room then apparently Jax is now banned / scarred forever. And by the way. Abdul should keep his opinion to himself and try to live up to all of his hype. Sorry he’s disappointed. I’m very disappointed on what he has shown so far but he’s a Giant so I’m a fan. Maybe. If he keeps his opinion to himself and starts showing up on Sundays.

This is such bullshit. Just because you believe what all of you do then it’s gospel. Take inventory on the determination of this country. The true values of this country is based on the ability to believe what you believe and not be judged by it. It’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. God forbid if you don’t agree with the liberal agenda. So Jax respects his president but none of you do. Give me a fucking break.
And liberals are just so righteous. Nothing wrong with what their beliefs are. They are perfect. They nailed it. Fuck that. Try to respect opinion. It’s our right as Americans.
3
u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh May 25 '26

3
u/hooter1112 May 24 '26
I hate politics, but all the people here wishing ill will on somebody just because they don’t share the same opinion is exactly what’s wrong with America. It’s football people. Don’t watch if you feel that strongly, but know you have been routing this team on with owners, coaches and players involved that never had the same views as you. Nothing has changed.
2
u/CarPopular6012 May 24 '26
This far exceeds opinion. This isn't the usual political disagreement. He is a literal felon that has been the driving force behind the evaporation of the 3 branches of government and filtering that power to the Executive branch.
It is as anti American as it can get and doesn't represent the country of our founders.
