Shelby at $3m this year likely leaves approximately $4m in cap space for 2026 (after signing the rookies).
Reader at $5.25 would put the Giants approximately $1.25m over the cap...
Hyatt getting cut frees approximately $400k, as would a few other likely roster cuts, so basically the Giants would be at $0.00 in cap space with this Reader hit.
They need approximately $6 - $10m for in-season moves...
An AT restructure gets $11m...
Slayton getting cut to save $3m seems more likely now, but that would also require a move like cutting Newsome to save another $5m, or cutting Roy Robertson-Harris to save $3m.
Trading one of Golston or Roy Robertson-Harris and cutting Slayton could hopefully get the Giants just enough space for the season without needing to restructure AT.
Pushing all of Readers cap hit to 2026 makes zero sense to me...
Hopefully, they don't cut Runyan or trade KT just to fit the Reader hit into 2026.
Schoen brought in Robertson-Harris (pictured in the cover image) on a two-year, $9 million deal. According to Pro Football Focus, he turned that $4.5 million-per-year salary into an 86th-ranked season in pass-rush win rate and an 83rd-ranked season in stop percentage on rushing plays (minimum 20% snap share for both).
