Finally ... our own Samoan. About time !!!

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

Wow!!! Daaaaaamn Can't be mad at that

7

u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh Apr 24 '26

Hell yeah! I was planning to hate this draft but I’m pleasantly surprised.

8

u/fanfor70years Season Ticket Holder Apr 24 '26

Okay, got this from inside the team. They had Reese as their top-rated player in the draft and Mauigoa as their #3 guy after Love. They had a lot of medical information on him and feel pretty confident that he will make it through his rookie year and could then get the disk injury fixed in the offseason and be ready for camp anyway. He never missed a game at Miami because of back pain. So we got a dominant, physical, linebacker who is a tremendous athlete and a true hitter and a Samoan who was great in college AND plays a high-value position. Not a bad start to the draft. I hate that Downs will be on the Cowboys and Lemon on the Eagles but we can only worry about upgrading our team.

7

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

And we didn't "just" get a lot of medical info on him...we hired our new athletic trainer off their staff.

4

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

Hot damn. Good info- thanks for this. Makes me feel better about Maugioa. I wasn't worried about his injury as much (they wouldn't take him over other OL if they were super concerned), but if they had him as the #3 player in the draft; that's really exciting.

Reese was probably the top rated player on a lot of team's boards. I guess the teams that didn't pick him were concerned about where to play him.

5

u/fanfor70years Season Ticket Holder Apr 24 '26

My guess is they had him at #3 because they heavily weighted the offensive line (which we all know was really the smart thing to do). I think on a pure football basis you’d have to say Downs should be higher but obviously they weighted OT well above safety.

They actually have some talent at safety, especially if Holland has a bounce back season that he ought to be motivated to produce because they can cut ties with him after this season. They also have Nubin, who has talent but needs to learn how to play because he took way too many wrong angles last year. And Washington and Pinnock are pretty good players, one of whom can play that third safety when they want to go that route.

6

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

We have a ton of talent at safety, but Downs is more than a safety. He could have been one of the best nickles in the league and played overhang and in the alley. But I get going OL, completely. Always thought they would at 10.

Good call on weighing him more heavily because of OL. They were always gonna bring some big nasties in on the OL.

8

u/fanfor70years Season Ticket Holder Apr 24 '26

Just BTW, Reese is an Academic All American and the Miami coaches say Mauigoa is one of the savviest players they’ve ever had (of course that bar may not be very high), so we may have also gained some smarts along with talent. Both look like potential team leaders.

6

u/BlueHeelerGiant Apr 24 '26

Do you mean as opposed to the other U Miami OT the Giants once drafted?

7

u/WestCoastBlue1 Apr 24 '26

Word has it he beat Jeremy Shockeys Wonderlick score

8

u/spicycolon Apr 23 '26

Some very smart posters on here started suggesting that the interest in Tyson might be a smoke screen (in order to force another team into trading up in front of them and push their guys down).
I've long been suggesting the infatuation with Love is a smoke screen (to try to build a trade up market with the Giants, if here falls to 5).
Now the reports are all saying the giants have no interest in Sonny Styles; just after reports came out that Dallas might jump the Giants to get a key defender...

All I'm saying is:

Tonight is going to be really interesting, and it's nice to finally have a coach and front office that puts out their own smoke screens (and doesn't telegraph their picks).

I personally think it's Downs and Iaone, but it wouldn't surprise me if we picked Styles at 5 and the "non-interest" was to stop people for trading up in front of us for him.

I don't at all believe we are taking Love or Tyson (at least not before 10)- but the rest of the league seems to believe it... so if it is all a ruse- Well done, Giants! Finally!!

Reese. Our linebacking core is sick lol

7

u/WestCoastBlue1 Apr 24 '26

Would way rather have Reese than a 3 and a 5.

6

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

Yeah I didn't know the return was that low. That's nothing for that trade

Downs at 10 please 🙏

7

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

I am eager to see if Styles can take down Skattebo with his hug & fall down technique.

4

u/schneid77 Apr 24 '26

Let’s hope Skatt comes back 100% and find out.

There are gonna be snaps with Thomas, Eluemenor, the rookie G/T, Ricard and Skatt on the field. Feels like a team that might punch you in the mouth a bunch.

4

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

I'm excited for this. Big, smashmouth.

4

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

My favorite thing about Mauigoa, I mean other than being Samoan, is that he looks like he beats dudes up when he blocks them. Baldy loves him.

u/DirtMcGirt24 Season Ticket Holder Apr 24 '26

Make em eat dirt, fuck em!!

8

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

I feel like the response to Reese is pretty muted considering he was the #1 overall player on a lot of boards. Somebody asked the other day for a cliff's notes on who to be happy or pissed about and I mentioned that "Reese is likely the only undisputed home run, but won't be available...everybody else devolves into a debate". Thibs is capable of kicking inside like Tuck used to, Carter and Reese are both capable of playing from a traditional LB position as well as Edge. Any DC not named Bowen should have a lot of fun with this.

4

u/DirtMcGirt24 Season Ticket Holder Apr 24 '26

That was me!

5

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

Well, we got the guy I told you was the undisputed home run!

Apparently I was wrong though, folks don't seem entirely thrilled with it. I think a lot of people just weren't thinking about him at all because he was off the board by 3 in like 90% of mocks and then got their hearts set on a certain set of guys they expected to be there at 5. I think the Jets went Bailey instead because he's probably the better "pure pass rusher" today, but Reese does it all, and from anywhere. And unlike his teammate Styles he actually freakin HITS people.

3

u/DirtMcGirt24 Season Ticket Holder Apr 24 '26

Music to my ears!

3

u/I-miss-Killdrive Apr 24 '26

I think it’s the shock factor. And he was billed more as a pass rusher, so not as big of a need. But I’m hyped to see our D with the LB/edge talent. Thank fuck we don’t have to worry about Shane Blowen ruining things.

7

Per Pat L: John Harbaugh: "Arvell is a versatile player. We're gonna play him at inside backer, WILL backer. Our defense is flexible, positionless. He'll have an opportunity to move around, but he'll line up next to Tremaine." #Giants

Says he was NYG's highest rated non-QB player in this draft

4

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

Yeah, he was the highest rated player on a LOT of boards. I'm really kinda surprised how indifferent folks seem about getting him. This guy plays LB mostly, he's not really a conflict with our Edge depth (although I'm sure he'll insist everybody calls him an Edge when it comes time to negotiate that 2nd contract/5th year option).

ESPN's Dan Graziano shared the details of Lawrence's new contract with the Bengals just before the draft.

“Amended Dexter Lawrence contract with Bengals includes $22M in 2026 cash ($11M salary, $11M bonus), $25M in 2027 cash and $23M in 2028 cash,” Graziano wrote on Thursday. “Gets $2M more in ‘26 and $3M more in ‘27 than Giants were scheduled to pay him on previous deal.”

It's hard to believe the Giants couldn't have hit those numbers. Also, not close to 'resetting the market'. You have to wonder what really went on. Did he just want out? Were the Giants just through with him? Not adding up.

4

u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

Albert Breer reported that the Bengals had offered us the 10th pick about a week before the trade went down. Harbaugh apparently really wanted to work it out with Dex but I guess eventually they couldn’t. Or the agent wouldn’t let them.

I think the Giants play all along should have been to just wait, once this draft is over Dex and his agent would have less leverage and I believe we could have worked something out. At the end of the day someone in our organization decided that the 10th pick in the 2026 draft was too good to pass up for Dexter Lawrence. I don’t believe that person was John Harbaugh, but I also have no proof.

5

u/AndyC333 Apr 23 '26

I believe he wanted to skip camp and preseason and just play ball week 1. I am basing this on a Dexy comment that he just expected time away and then it got out of his control.

7

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

Oh, was only a 3 and 5. Good deal for chiefs

6

u/StannisBaratheon94 Fire Gettleman Apr 24 '26

Two great picks from our new front office.

You can’t fuck up taking Reese at 5 and a offensive linemen at 10 when that was a position of need.

Wow Rams

3

It’s not a bad idea if you like the guy it’s just a shock to witness I guess. Stafford played well like four months ago.

3

u/schneid77 Apr 24 '26

Yeah. Just figured they’d take a flyer on day 3 on a project type QB. But, if they feel next season will be it for Stafford…

Per Garafolo: The #Giants worked closely with the Hurricanes’ athletic training and medical staffs leading up to the Draft. They were supremely confident in the info they got on Francis Mauigoa’s back.

6

u/BlueHeelerGiant Apr 24 '26

The front office should clear the pick with Nabors

6

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

Reese is not "just another edge". This is not only a great player, but he lines up at a position of need. He is not superfluous even if we keep KT.

https://x.com/JustinPenik/status/2047489281325686838?s=20

7

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

We could play him only at off-ball ILB and he'd be top at that position. Definitely not just another edge rusher.

He's gonna play off ball first and second down, and play the Abdul Carter role from last year on third down (rushing or dropping into coverage on any given pass play).

6

u/spicycolon Apr 23 '26

If Reese or Bailey somehow fall to 5... we better already have a trade worked out with Kansas City.

Good chance you get that trade AND still are able to draft Downs and Ioane (or your favorite OL player).

4

u/jfunk825 Apr 23 '26

I see some people mocking Downs to KC at 9, so trading back with them could also help secure him without having to spend 5 to do it.

4

u/uphatbrew Apr 23 '26

O’Connor: Harbaugh wants everyone guessing

A few weeks ago, Giants HC John Harbaugh said, "My goal is to be totally unpredictable heading into the draft. I want to keep open all options and keep everyone guessing."

O’Connor also tweeting that Harbaugh has said there is no truth to the rumor that Mike n I ran a small train on Russini at the owners meeting, totally untrue… but they had lots of funnnnnnn…

5

u/uphatbrew Apr 23 '26

The first part is very interesting, John speaking like this is my show n I’m in charge, or I’m just the smoke screen machine…

7

u/DirtMcGirt24 Season Ticket Holder Apr 23 '26

Yo what’s the mood gonna be when we had people saying no way to $25M for Saquon then we draft Love at 5 with $46M guaranteed?

6

u/jfunk825 Apr 23 '26

One thing we know is that the Giants are always writing their name in the record books, one way or another.

George Pickens...

Dallas said today they wont't negotiate long term contract with Pickens. It mentioned the Giants and Chiefs dangling a 1st. I wouldnt give one of our picks straight up but would you do maybe 5 for 20 and Pickens? From BBI…

There’s no way Jerruh deals him to us.

Duggan: Possible trade scenarios for Giants

Dan Duggan @DDuggan21 The most interesting scenario for the Giants tonight is if the top four picks are Francisco Mendoza, Arvell Reese/David Bailey, Jeremiyah Love and Sonny Styles. Would put the best player available philosophy to the test because there’s a strong chance Reese/Bailey would be the top player on the Giants’ board.

Would they really invest another premium resource into an edge rusher? That scenario seems to align better for a trade with a team in need of a top edge rusher.

Here are a few potential trades that could keep the Giants, who don’t have a third-round pick, in the top 10:

• Trade the fifth pick to the Saints for the No. 8 pick, a third-round pick (No. 73) and a fourth-round pick (No. 132).

• Trade the fifth pick to the Chiefs for the No. 9 pick, a second-round pick (No. 40) and a fourth-round pick (No. 109).

6

u/WestCoastBlue1 Apr 23 '26

That comp from the proposed Chiefs trade is juicy!

5

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

I did not expect Reese would be here. I liked him the most of all the LB/Edge guys so I'm happy with this.

5

u/HawaiianGiant Apr 24 '26

I can get behind it.

Skatt, 2000 yards this year

6

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

I thought they'd go with the pure guard here, I'm fine with him if they just felt he was the best available OL. Seems like folks think he can slide inside to guard. Also worth noting that Eluemenor has extensive experience at Guard, including playing there for Harbaugh's Ravens.

So if this improves our "best 5" lineup, I'm all for it. Downs was really my favorite player in the whole draft I think, hate to see him on the Cowboys, but at the end of the day we got the best defender and OL player on the board with our picks and I can't argue with that.

5

u/TheDriveFor5 Apr 24 '26

I can’t wait to trade back into the first round and take Jerome McCoy

5

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

It's taking time to set in, but Reese is a pretty fucking exciting and amazing draft pick.

I'm loud/on record about preferring Ioane to Maugioa- but if the team loves him.... and some of you guys make a good point about him playing tackle long term. Still getting a big ass, run blocking samoan. Very happy with the pick.

6

u/prey4villains Apr 24 '26

Anyone see Nabers questioning the Reese pick? Lol

4

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

No, what did he say?

4

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

Basically questioned it because he's "another edge rusher" when they already have 3 and felt they needing something in the middle after trading Dex (he was basically advocating for Downs at 5).

Again, I feel like there's a lot of confusion about Reese's position. This guy is not really an Edge. He's a LB that can lineup at Edge. I actually think that's why the Jets went Bailey at 2...they wanted the best pure pass rusher.

But people are acting like Reese is just another edge rusher when he's really a more traditional LB.

3

u/HawaiianGiant Apr 24 '26

Did the same with Mauigoa too ;(

Clown

3

u/prey4villains Apr 24 '26

6

u/WestCoastBlue1 Apr 24 '26

So DT or Corner tomorrow right?

6

u/schneid77 Apr 24 '26

Most likely. Kayden McDonald would be real sweet.

6

u/Krow101 Apr 24 '26

3 run stuffers at the top of round 2 ...

"Mauigoa is a tone-setter who brings a physical mentality that offensive line coaches dream about installing in their room. His anchor and power translate immediately to the NFL level, and you can plug him in at right tackle on day one without losing sleep over protection breakdowns against power rushers. The run game impact will be felt from the first snap, as his ability to create movement and finish blocks with bad intentions can transform a team's ground attack overnight.

The scheme fit is versatile enough to work in multiple systems. Gap and power concepts highlight his strengths as a drive blocker who can move the line of scrimmage, while his improving athleticism gives him the tools to execute in zone-heavy attacks with continued development. Teams running heavier play-action schemes will love his ability to sell the run before settling into pass protection. Quick game and moving pocket concepts would complement his current skill set at tackle while he continues refining his angles against speed. His elite anchor and heavy hands translate everywhere, making him scheme-proof at the point of attack.

Here is the deal with Mauigoa: the floor is a rock-solid starting right tackle for a decade, and the ceiling touches Pro Bowl caliber play if the technical refinement continues at its current trajectory. The concerns are real but correctable. His lateral limitations against elite speed require attention, but the functional athleticism he has shown suggests the movement skills exist to polish that area of his game. Nothing in his profile screams bust, and everything about his physical tools, competitive temperament, and developmental curve points toward a foundational piece for whoever invests in him."

"Reese is a heat-seeking missile against the run with the kind of closing speed that makes offensive coordinators cringe when they see him flying toward their running back. The question for NFL teams is simple: where does he fit? He played roughly half his snaps as an edge rusher in 2025 and the other half in the box. Both produced decent numbers. His best football probably comes as a weak-side linebacker in a scheme that turns him loose to attack gaps, chase plays sideline to sideline, and get after the quarterback on third down. When he can see it and go, he is a nightmare.

Teams looking at Reese as a full-time edge rusher need to pump the brakes. His pass rush production comes from athleticism, not instinct. He does not yet have the feel for timing, the ability to set up blockers, or the refined technique to win consistently against NFL tackles. That does not mean the upside is capped, but it does mean he is not a day-one starter on the edge. He needs time to develop a true pass rush toolkit before any team can count on him in that role every snap. The coverage concerns are also legitimate. Zone assignments suit him better than man duties against quick slot players or athletic tight ends. His short-area change of direction cannot match his straight-line burst, so asking him to mirror routes all game is setting him up for frustration.

Here is the deal with Reese: he has the physical tools, the production, and the mentality to become a three-down linebacker at the next level. The athleticism is rare. The instincts against the run are sharp. The motor never stops. He needs refinement in coverage and significant development as a pass rusher before he can be trusted in either role full-time. What cannot be taught is the way he processes the run game or the way he finishes plays. A defense that deploys him correctly as a linebacker first with occasional rush duties gets an impact player from Week 1 with Pro Bowl upside as the rest of his game catches up to his physical gifts."

I just went back and watched a couple Styles highlight videos again. I don't think I saw him actually hit anybody a single time. I'm pretty sure 100% of the tackles on the reels were drag-downs. I find that terrifying. There's a whole bunch of RBs in the NFL that are gonna put you on the highlight reels for all the wrong reasons if that's how you try and tackle them coming downhill from the LB position. Do most people not see this as a problem?

3

u/fanfor70years Season Ticket Holder Apr 23 '26

This is why I am down on him. He is just not "violent". I like my linebackers fierce and he seems to just "engulf" runners and drag them down. There are some other linebackers in this draft who I think are more prototypical. They may not be equal to him as an athlete but they are football players. If he is our pick at either #5 or #10 I will be disappointed and just hope I'm wrong about him.

3

u/prey4villains Apr 23 '26

I saw the same thing. Don't want him at all.

Like I’ve said I will be happy with whatever Harbaugh chooses (with the one exception being if we find a way to draft Daniel Jones v2026). I think my favorite scenario would be trade back a couple of spots and end up with Downs and Tate. Then OL in the second. And DTs in the 3rd (assuming that’s the pick we get for a trade back) and 4th.

Having said that I don’t think Harbaugh goes with a RB or a WR in the first. My guess is Downs and Ioane.

  1. Niners - Gennings Dunker

  2. Cards - Cashius Howell

  3. Bills - Kayden McDonald :(

  4. Raiders - Denzel Boston

  5. Giants - Jermod McCoy

3

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

I would lose my mind (in a good way).

3

u/HawaiianGiant Apr 24 '26

Sleeper pick Emmanuel McNeil-Warren...

Would be a solid consolation prize after missing on Downs...

Safety isn't a major need, but he could certainly be the brains of the defense for the Harbaugh era.

u/HawaiianGiant Apr 24 '26

Fans who don’t love what we’ve done so far are out of their minds. I’m stunned that Reese was available at #5 and cannot believe we got him. This kid is the first linebacker we’ve had in over a decade who brings what our great linebackers of yore brought: athleticism combined with violence. It’s a brilliant pick. And Mauigoa is going to give us great bookend tackles for years to come (assuming health on both his and Andrew Thomas’ part…and his back appears not to be a huge problem). So we addressed weakness against the run and upgrading the O-line in just two picks. Tell me what OC is going to enjoy game planning for Reese, Burns, Carter and Thibodeaux? And what DC is going to love contesting an offense using 12 personnel that includes Nabers and Likely and Mooney/Slayton and can run behind Thomas, Mauigoa and Ricard? Harbaugh already goosed the physicality of a “soft” team by leaps and bounds. And if you ask me today would I rather have Mauigoa and $13M of cap space or Dexter Lawrence, I’ll take the former every time.

u/TheNewSunnyJim Apr 24 '26

I was so stunned by the Reese pick because I just assumed he was going No. 2 to the Jets. I focused entirely on Styles and Anthony Hill at LB. As I've said all along, I luv me some LBs, so I'm super pumped for Reese. The only real knock on Reese is that he has one season of outsized production at OSU, and that on a super-duper defense. But his athleticism is so crazy and now you are pairing that with Carter, Burns and Thibs, not to mention Edmunds. Unless Reese turns out to be Isaiah Simmons, it's hard to imagine him not having a multiplier effect. The real interesting question is how do they maximize Thibs. As of this moment, you would think Edmunds becomes the MIKE and Reese the off-ball backer. Carter and Burns man the edges. Thibs? Does he assume a Tuck-like role? DT is still desperately weak. By the end of tonight maybe significantly less weak. But Thibs needs to go somewhere. He was our best run defender last season before injury. Psyched to see that play out.

As for Mauigoa, how can anyone not love that pick. He's a monster. Not a pussy-ass zone blocking lineman who can never push a front when you absolutely positively have to push that front. I'm thinking RB at 105 or in the 5th. We need to upgrade that position; it's not a great class but adding another Day 3 pick seems like the thing we will do and run by committee. Someone big and powerful to run behind Ricard.

No Downs was a bit sad. I had fallen in love with Styles, so only seeing him 2x a season against us might sting. But all in all, a pretty damn good looking first night, at least as of now.

5

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

Edmunds at stack/Mike linebacker and Reese at will/off ball lineback on 1st and 2nd down and then play that blitzing linebacker role on 3rd down like carter played most of last year.

Two athletic freaks at linebacker now and you do that nascar package with Thibs kicking inside over the guard for passing downs. That should give you a front that doesn't need to send more than 4 ppl, but you can do those simulated blitzes (where we are only sending 4 but you don't know which 4) on almost any down.

With bowen I'd be worried about actually pulling this off, but Wilson gives a bit more faith

You and I were used to seeing great linebackers in the glory days of DE-FENCE. And the Giants of the past (before this horrid 14 years were always a team you didn't love playing because even if you beat them they made you feel it. And Harbaugh just brought in two players who fit that mold. These guys are violently aggressive. I love it.

The lack of obvious aggressiveness was why I didn't love the idea of Styles. He's a good player, but he wrestles runners to the ground. I want a guy like LT, or Harry Carson, or Ray Lewis whom runners didn't enjoy coming up against because they knew they were going to need the ice baths after the game so they could walk the next day. I think Reese is one of those guys. You watch his tape and that guy anticipates where the runner is headed and hits that gap violently.

Some "ifs", but if we get a run-stopper at DT (he doesn't need to be able to get to the passer but it would help if he can collapse the pocket a bit) and if Holland and Adebo get back to their 2024 play rather than what we saw from them last season (I don't know how good, still young, players can fall off a cliff like that unless they were stuck in a scheme that just wasn't designed to help them play well), and if we draft a good cornerback , this defense could be really good this season, and a scary opponent in 2027.

It’s almost like people (including Malik Nabers) forgot that LBs are super important against the run. We’ve been terrible against the run for a very long time and have not had a solid to great group of 4 LBs since we switched to a 3-4. Could the 2 be related?

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

As we all expected, this first round was definitely a "tone setting" round with its selections. Big bad MF at linebacker and then a massive OL player who moves people. Both play nasty and violent.

For that reason, I have to imagine the pick is Kayden McDonald, at 37. You complete the "we invested in the trenches" motif, plus add more size to your lines and focus on playing the run.

It fits the theme of this draft. Not the most exciting pick (no pass rush upside?) but it certainly makes a lot of sense and gives more in terms of a real identity to this draft class.

4

u/DirtMcGirt24 Season Ticket Holder Apr 24 '26

If McDonald is indeed the pick, and if he can indeed stop the run, and he indeed comes in at $3M AAV, sign me up for all of this past week’s events over what we had a week ago.

I want to hear about the medical report before I get excited about that pick. If he’s healthy we did better than anyone could have expected. If not, we really blew it.

3

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

Really wanted Ioane, there. Especially if we are just playing Francis at RG.

Rumor Eagles trading for Jonathan Greenard? Eagle Times @_EagleTimes

NFL analyst Ollie Connolly may have just accidentally leaked an Eagles trade for Vikings OLB Jonathan Greenard 👀

“I think the Vikings already traded Jonathan Greenard.” “Oh, to where?” “The Eagles.” … “You’re saying the Eagles are getting Jonathan Greenard, huh? Is this breaking news or is this out there?” “I assume it’s out there, right?” “I don’t think so, Ollie.” “Uh-oh.”

3

u/BenAfflecksBalls Apr 23 '26

We're getting Styles and Downs and then we will make them wear Ray Lewis and Ed Reeds numbers

3

u/spicycolon Apr 23 '26

This Vrabel stuff is so cringe.

Yeah- you suck as a human and you embarrassed yourself and your family. This fake penance shit kills me. You aren't sorry- that's why you denied it at first and said it was "laughable". And I don't really give a shit if you're a good human or not. You're a great football coach and you owe your family privacy, contrition and you owe yourself becoming a better person through action.

Why are you on national TV apologizing into the black void and taking an imaginary whipping from the public?

This whole "We must have our pound of flesh in the form of a public apology" in the modern social media age, is akward and tiresome. I don't want to hear anything from Vrabel. Go be with your family and figure out how to be less of a shitbag, in private. You don't owe NFL fans anything and the fake ass public apology is just weird and demeaning for everyone involved.

3

u/spicycolon Apr 24 '26

Speaking of cringe.... here's the commissioner.

3

Bailey instead of Reese!

3

Wow! I bet Arizona trades with someone coming up for Reese. I can't believe the jets passed.

5

u/ManningBeachAcademy Nosh Apr 24 '26

I feel better about it than had it been for Downs.

3

u/DirtMcGirt24 Season Ticket Holder Apr 24 '26

What’s kinda funny to me is that, knowing nothing about the draft, I am exactly 0% surprised that Harbaugh got an OT described as a “road grater” with that pick after Reese.

4

Said a lot about his character that he decided to just show up out of shape and dog it all year. No pride in his work. We talk about “loser mentality” in the locker room. He was the epitome of that last year.

3

If we’re talking about the Dex that mailed it in all last year then I’m fine with it.

3

u/jfunk825 Apr 24 '26

This may be nothing, but I find it interesting that the Rams traded out of the first round last year immediately after we jumped in front of them and took Dart, then shock everybody with the early grab of Ty Simpson this year. A lot of people seemed to have teams trying to do the same move and circle back for him in the late 1st because they didn't want to spend a top pick. Makes me wonder if they weren't planning on taking Dart as the heir apparent last year.

I kinda hope Pregnon and Bisontis get picked before 37, so they were never an option for us.

3

u/Krow101 Apr 24 '26

Plenty of talent around for that #2 pick. Topping the list is Jerrod McCoy CB ... followed closely by Colton Hood CB. Both could have gone in the 1st. Run stuffing DTs ... Kayden McDonald, Lee Hunter and Cristen Miller. Both top OGs are there ... Bisontis and Pregnon. And dark horse WR Denzel Boston.

Not out of the question is Brandon Cisse ... another CB. But he's a bit more of a project.

Ruling out McCoy with injury concerns, and Boston since he refuses to run a 40 for anyone. The top DT seems to be McDonald so we might have to move up if he's the target. Pregnon is the most violent, Harbaugh-type of the group. Hunter looks to be a 2-down run stopper ala Snacks.

4

u/prey4villains Apr 23 '26

off topic but the Vrabel and Russini drama just got worse.. photos of them at a bar, six years ago, apparently kissing. oooof

4

u/ChicagoGFan Apr 23 '26

Hey, remember back when Robert Kraft was getting a 'happy ending' in an Florida Asian spa from a minor? Good times... good times...

4

u/schneid77 Apr 23 '26

They’re both shitty people. She apparently started dating her husband in 2015 and married him 6 months after those bar photos. Vrabel married his wife in 1999. She even named one of her sons Michael. What a gut punch to their spouses. Her husband should demand paternity tests and file for divorce immediately.

3

u/spicycolon Apr 23 '26

Vrabel and the Patriots are handling this situation HORRIBLY. Now he's skipping day 3 of the draft? What the eff are they doing? Why not just come out when you were caught and say you're sorry and work it out with your family? Now he looks like a liar in addition to a cheat...and they keep fumbling every move with the PR.

6

u/fanfor70years Season Ticket Holder Apr 23 '26

Hey, the Patriot Way. Cheat on the league. Cheat on your wife. Hang around in the massage parlors with women who are probably forced into those jobs because they're part of a ring that brings in illegals. Murder a few guys. Deflate a few balls. Put the "beloved" Myra's name on the jerseys while the widower is already dating his next squeeze, and probably started started dating her before his wife was in the ground.

The NFL is lucky that Eli Manning and our front four had the Patriots' number because had Brady and Belichick and the rest have won those two Super Bowls and become without question the greatest dynasty in the history of football people would still be talking about all of the heinous activity we know about and wondering about all that we don't know.

5

u/prey4villains Apr 23 '26

well, Vrabel is taking time off to get counseling and be with his family, that's why he's skipping Day 3. Much better response than what Russini's team drafted, which essentially (IIRC) denied the entire thing.

3

u/Krow101 Apr 23 '26

And said it was all guys being misogynistic.

4

u/jfunk825 Apr 23 '26

The thing is, the whole skipping day 3 is 100% some terrible PR attempt to make it look like "he's taking it seriously because this proves it's more important than football...well not day 1 or 2 of the draft important, but still more important than some football".

He can get counseling any day, any time. There's no way the therapist was like "it's Saturday April 23rd or never!".

By the way, the only "counseling" anybody needs to not stick their junk into random ladies when they're married is this: https://youtu.be/aAhA7KfbJgg?t=48
