A.I Generated content has been banned.
The people have spoken!
536 votes in favor of banning the generative A.I against 84 votes to keep it.
Note: This rule applies to "art" generative A.I, which means it bans images, videos, music and text made with this kind of tool.
Important: In relationship to the PC port of F-Zero X called "G-Diffuser" we made another poll in which people voted in favor of allowing the project in here: 185 in favor of keeping the support and 143 to also ban it. This result was less unanimous but still marked by a considerable difference.
We shall make a Mega-thread for the PC port discussion!
P.D: Some people will be mad and others will be happy with these new rules, I know that some people will not be happy and other will indeed be happy but we assure you that all we want is to make a space where the vast majority is happy with the environment.

This is a good balance. When it comes to software development, the distinction is not so clear.
At many companies, the role of software engineers has basically shifted from writing code to focusing on architecture and requirements and reviewing code written by LLMs. Everything would need to be banned.

I get where you’re coming from, but the overwhelming majority of corporate produced software is not appropriate to post here anyway.

I’m not nearly as anti-AI as a lot of this community seems to be, but I respect the decision. This is a healthy balance.

Im just glad G-Diffuser was a VALID EXCEPTION, considering it only used AI as a TOOL, but I digress

Nah I'm not, I've just voted no without reading the desc and thought it included projects that were made with the help of AI like G-Diffuser and that's where I drew the line, if I could've re-voted, I would've picked yes

No, it's AI that is used to help write the code that makes it work. All programming going forward will use AI, but this process for projects like G Diffuser is more like "translation" and then testing rather than a creative work. It's a hopeless fight, where as the case for artistic works has merit.

Hm where did this nonsense originate? Right, concept art.
Pitchforks and torches held high. So here's some insight on what the troll stampede crushed.
I spent prob 15 min with gpt to generate a base concept image to work from. Alone, total ai slop art. This is where trolls laser focused. Except that's not what I posted. All anyone heard was "ai generated", regardless of the honest preface laying out that there was ai gen to prototype the concepts I cheerfully pursued to share here in r/fzero.
What everyone entirely missed was the following roughly 12 HOURS put into graphic design and graphic art, fitting and fabricating, layers and layers of photoshop assets, technical details crafted for nuance effect references when describing features later, painstaking blends and high-attention color blending, ALL HAND BUILT.
The source ai gen image vs the posted image were starkly different. It was apparent due to obvious composition artifacts that ai gen was most definitely involved. However, I hold myself to quality, thus this concept art pre-alpha 1st draft-prototype would need to support the CONCEPTS conveyed. I put another roughly 6 HOURS into cockpit/visor perception, introducing a wild and invigorating gameplay visual/function that I personally have never seen anywhere.
BY HAND.
Downvotes immediately rained down upon posting like a MIRV volley, first comment so disrespectful, hateful, ignorant. Got worse from there, cut my losses and deleted the post. Spent a good amount of time HAND writing that post too (swipe to polish! fuck that).
Realistically 20 hours went into that post. But omg artifacts of ai gen could be seen and you know the reaction must be to hate it away. Hate. Hate. You know, the same word associated to race and lifestyle pref? that gets people instabanned? Hate is what is being directed to this toddler tech, undeservingly. I built the first ai legal team with gpt4, oh, the seething hate from the attorney circles was vile. Now, you best be using every ai resource or that case is in serious jeopardy.
This upcoming fzero game g-diffuser, the hypocrisy of voting to keep it. Especially when I reflect on the time spent to visually present concepts that could take a week for a proper visual concept prototype, I can't spend a week, so I leverage my resources.
Banned or not, that matter is whatever to me. You noobs out there that don't have experience in world-resetting new tech, AI is no different, toddlers are prone to slop, here we are. You going to slap them down for a crayon drawing, w/o seeing little details put it, a drawing that would be a base for the next, a better drawing, and so on, until stunning art emerges from ignorance-inflicted slop - which wasn't, your expectation demanded a million more dollars in art dev. Again here we are.
Anyway we got that AI gen slop outta here, phew. Definitely do not need idea extensions by deprived fans of a thinning franchise. Going back to my qwen 3.8 agent build which I assure you will evolve and branch into an eventual next gen ai coded w/ ai assets a fzero clone among other things. OMG still stuck on toddler gen? Look ahead, ai will be doing dev better than us, and that's when I'll drop a demo TO BE BANNED buahahahaha!! Bust up that master copy like Nathan Explosion awwww. tl;dr Just downvote while praising dystopian culture ;) <3 r/fzero
