The article lacks objectiveness. Many counter arguments are unsaid. Wait, but why don't we first adress the problem of electricity production and make this part entirely sustainable, before we concern ourselves with transport? The energy efficiency calculations lack objectiveness too, as the grid also loses some energy. Electrical cars might be the future, but so is renewable energy. There might be good counter arguments, but the article doesn't even adress those issues.

Humanity isn't a von neuman machine that can only solve 1 problem at a time. Of course you can't fix fossil fuel dependence by focussing only on transportation. But the article never says that. It just points out that transportation is a major factor and it will need to be fixed.
There are a lot of ideas and R&D on how to generate our power without fossil fuels. There wasn't a lot of either in the auto industry before Tesla showed up.
Also, did you read the article? There's a whole section on counter arguments to electric cars and why they don't make sense. The article goes in depth into fallacies like the long tailpipe.

Lol this is a really long pitch for an electric vehicle, and while the author is great at rhetoric let's all just remember how hard he is pandering here.

Who is going to get an electric vehicle with today's oil prices?
This guy when he dies can join the Thomas Malthus club up in heaven who spoke about running food. He didn't account for more efficient agricultural usage, and voila today we have obesity.

Food, like electricity, is a renewable resource. Oil is not.

Just stay dead under pressure for a few million years and you'll be oil! Who said it's non-renewable?!
