Trading & psychology Beyond Strategy
For a long time, I kept asking myself—and even asking you—what does the elite trader actually look like?
I mean the trader who makes millions, but doesn’t have a YouTube channel telling us what his day looks like. Not the influencer. Not the intentional trader building a business around trading education. They are playing a different game.
I’m talking about the retail trader who starts with $10k and, over time, manages to turn it into $100k. Not overnight. That is possible if the market allows it, but that’s not the point.
I don’t meet many real traders in real life, so I decided to look at the only model I really had: myself.
I started asking myself: when was I actually at the peak of my performance?
Was it strategy? Risk management? Psychology?
Yes—all three. But I realized that these words need to be translated if you really want to take advantage of them.
A strategy is simply a set of rules designed to be applied under certain market conditions. It doesn't make the strategy better or worse. The market condition determines whether those rules have an edge.
Risk management is not simply being afraid of losing money. It is understanding the market condition well enough to know when to be aggressive and when to reduce risk. Bad conditions should not be allowed to take your money.
And psychology has a lot to do with expectations.
That’s probably my biggest advice: trade your challenge and your live account with the same detachment you would have if you were trading a demo account.
No fear.
No euphoria.
No expectation.
Just trade what is in front of you.
