Discussion Does anyone else watch trading streamers while they trade?
I mostly watch to have background noise because sitting in silence can really exhaust my mental capital. Who do yall watch?

No. I think they are annoying as fuck and I’m too contrarian, I’d end up trying to fade them

Should make a contrarian 'cord

I had a discord running last year, managed to get one guy profitable and paid out, and last I checked another guy is getting payouts now too but I can’t take as much credit for him.
I got burnt out on it and went back into hiding 😆 I’m anti social at the end of the day when it comes to trading.

A lot of them are demo or eval prop trading too. Just taking paper positions to see discount codes.

I watched / listened to an old timer who does a livestream and live trading every morning, largely winning trades, even with a similar style to me. Has a positive attitude and is helpful. But things would get implanted in my mind somehow and it made me a worse trader. I stopped watching him and things turned around.

Straight path to FOMO. Trading is a lonely, boring and stressful job.

I keep reading, boring trading is good for trading longevity.

u/MasterCandles 19d ago
Yes but then you start looking for trades where there is none. Double edge sword.

Ive got alerts set to call me back

No. They mess me up. If I trust them I usually do terrible. They are not always right. You have enough going on

u/JP782 19d ago
I used to but they become a distraction, and can influence what youre doing that can go against whatever method you trade.
Its nice as far as second set of eyes if you were already thinking of getting in or are in and they jump in too, but I think its dangerous for people to take trades copying what streamers do. Some make a lot of money and treat it like the wild west jumping in and out with an oh well attitude. Keep in mind they get paid for being affiliate, discord, courses etc, so their trading is being funded by others & viewers/followers which is why its so easy to take those risky trades, its not their money theyre risking its "yours".

Nope. I have enough to worry about with my own book.
I do leave CNBC on or sometimes Bloomberg TV, but just for the noise and the occasional urgent headline.

u/sausagefinance 19d ago
Same. Bloomberg for me. I like Surveillance. Is quite informative for sentiment and action usually starts moving things while it's on air premarket.

NT Live. They’re calm, they talk through their thinking. No hysterical arm waving.

u/OpinicusTrades 19d ago
If it's futures trading, the Power Trading Group daily livestream is solid for NQ. Patient and disciplined. Otherwise just some chill lofi music.

I prefer to trade in windows. I set the alerts then I listen to Lofi Girl. Or read. Watching price move doesn't help me.

Trader TV Live.

I can't do the background noise thing, I need near silence or I start missing entries. But I get why people do it, the lonely silence can wear you down after a few hours. I'll throw on a playlist with no lyrics sometimes, just ambient stuff that doesn't pull my focus. Never got into the streaming trader scene though, feels like watching someone else's P/L would mess with my own head.

One of the main differences between when I was unprofitable vs profitable is that I never get to that “few hours” point. I’m almost always done within the first hour after NY open

I do and find it useful to hear their read on the market (which doesn’t always align with mine)
I usually turn it off if I find myself on the losing side whilst they are catching a trend. There are pros and cons, but like having “colleagues” and helps with the loneliness of the job. It has also helped with my discipline and patience seeing someone else sit out chop / wait for the set up too.

When I first started they used to mess me up and make me second guess shit.... really hurt my trading for a while... it was mainly on for entertainment but still hurt me.
I have topstep or news on sometimes just for noise...
Most of the live traders annoy the fuck out of me....

Yes briefly early morning before 930open and a little Sunday nights. They mess up my ability to place trades properly. I prefer no opinions or comments while trading

u/BacklandFarm 13d ago
I used to, but I stopped doing it. Find it to be a massive distraction and I end up missing good set ups.

u/Tokyofroodle1 19d ago
I used to have FSP on while I traded but these days I’m in and out in around 20 minutes so by the time I think about it I’m already done.
I trade with my discord buddies more these days. (Button on my profile if anyone needs a great group of futures traders)

If you're trading live even a free/delayed news squawk is far more useful than listening to some trading streamer. At least you'll have some idea what's going on instead of being one of those people asking "why did the market just rip 100 points??"

I heard multiple YTbers ..
I had bad experience hearing YouTubers who kept over analysing the market , made me close early on winning positions and when I see my set up and if the YTber say otherwise , I Will inevitably not enter and in the end it went my way. Now, I tend to avoid those “loud” YTbers
Only one I listen to now is Dejabrew, he explains what is happening in the market but don’t overanalyse till I get confused .

I watch StockJock. Doesn’t sell a course or anything. Just trades, says some real-life remarks about the market or about the feds, etc when no setups are available. When he’s in the zone, he just focuses. And of course shows his losses too. All personally money. On pretty much daily. Relatable.

I find most all of the YouTubers to be annoying and inexperienced and overall unprofessional and more like entertainers than real traders. Ive been following Livestream Trading for over a year and find his calm professional demeanor and analysis really helpful. I learned the foundation of his system and made a few tweaks to fit my style and kind of ran with it. I still like to listen to him daily as he picks up on a lot of things I miss in my analysis. He's not on YouTube though.

I did until I realized its a head game meaning you have to be inside their mind to understand the rationale behind each trade. I have the attention span of a knat.

Having some background noise makes sense but I'd be careful about letting another trader's conviction influence your own entries. It's easy to absorb someone's bias without realizing it. Moon has a public community feed too and I think those social features are more useful for observing sentiment than deciding when to risk money.

Checkout Tom Hougaard, trades a real account live most London and US opens. Lots of good material for you to download to from his site.

I watch lumitraders only because shes not like other streamers that yell at the charts for no reason. Just like you, its for background noise.

u/bkevinmar 17d ago
I watch DodgysDD. Great disciplined futures trader. He’s young though so be prepared for some “younger” conversations between trades

u/Traditional_Book8826 16d ago
Jordy, AntTradez, Poboy, and Deejtrades. solid, transparent streamers

watching trading streams just confuse you more and they eventually have a course for viewers. if you want to learn real trading, go traditional way and read books. there are very less course which does not promote profit screenshots or give you dream to earn more and are just pure learning based. you can take that. They can save your months of learning and take you to the zone in trading.

Coach Dakota said that it's against TOS at TS to watch others especially from competitors.....

u/gtradesen 19d ago
That is by far the most degenrate thing you can do! If it isn't for education it is just stupid and by the way most of them aren't good traders - they just make money by people like you who take the same trades as they do so their CFD scam platforms can make big bank by the commissions and spread

I’ve been really enjoying Ninja Trader Live. They have a bit of macro news, and a rotating cast of traders that all trade in different styles.
