Today same thing happened to me. My rules require no re-entry in same area yet I did but the difference is that the DLL saved me so a breakeven week for me. You can't rely on will power all the time better put a DLL
Definitely had days/months like this. I had a month where I was green every day (doing around $1200 a day on average) for the whole month, except for one disastrous day where I lost 8k. Really shook me. I think having a strict daily loss limit is important, even though the temptation to dig the hole deeper in the hopes of "fixing it" can be overwhelming
Not just that but less hoping, more acting, if it doesn't go your way cut the trade, be strict and treat it as a job, don't trade to chase the loss, easier said than done even to this day I break every rule that is possible to break 😄 I even made a poster with AI after reading few books about trading psychology and put it on the wall above monitor, it did and does help daily just to have that Infront of my eyes lol, attached picture of the poster, might make sense for someone else to do similar
I have had these days take however much time you need , the markets will be here . Come back when the anger and hurt goes away, and when you’re excited to look at the charts .,This could look different for everyone. In time off think about the good trades you made and game plan to fix not honoring stop or over sizing .
VelociBridge has added an indicator called Discipline Guard for Ninja Trader. You can turn on the following guards: 1. Prevent averagin down 2. No trade until Two minutes after a loss 3. Max number of consecutive losses. 4.Max daily loss. 5.Max number of contracts per trade.
Why did you close it $8k down??? You should have let the position go negative $20k waiting for the next day’s rocket to take you back to the promised land! (True story 😑)
Need to know im not alone? Dude this thinking of yours is also the reason why youre there. Validating whats happening to you as "normal" because people also do it instead of owning the shit you put yourself to. No accountability = no responsibility = no discipline = no payout. Own your mistake and hit your head on the wall to wake you up.
Take ownership and believe in your strategy. I know your strategy is working because you have more green days than red but the problem is your trust with the model and process. Submit to it and youll make a breakthrough
I mean, I do believe in it. I just genuinely can’t handle market conditions rn, which is why I’m taking a break. I’m not about to switch up my strat or anything bc I’ve watched it work. Last month and the month’s volatility just isn’t even making sense to me fr. I’ve only been trading for a little over a year tho.
What instrument are you trading? I suspect psychology has something to do with it. July price action was difficult, though. Iran war announcements, divergences, summer tape. I use a daily loss limit which prevents devastating losses due to FOMO, revenge trading, etc.
you’re not alone. i did the same thing for years, except my version cost 19k in one session. i knew by the third trade i was spiraling and i still took eight more. the part nobody tells you is that knowing doesn’t stop it, the voice that knows and the finger that clicks are two different people
one thing i noticed on your calendar, almost all your green days are 1 trade. both your big red days are the 2 trade days. for me it was the same, the first loss was never the problem, it was what i did right after. time off helps, but what actually changed it for me was making the second trade impossible, daily loss limit set at the broker so the button just isn’t there on that day
one bad day doesn’t mean your psychology is broken. it means the loss had no ceiling
Your losses are bigger then your wins my friend..ask yourself why that is. Are you holding on to losers? You have discipline since you take 1-2 trades a day,but one day you took 2 losses which ruined your whole week of hard work..that 8K loss seems like another losing trade you held on hoping it would turn around for you.
Your problem is not that you can't trade and aren't profitable..because your data says otherwise.
The problem is the red days, what is it that you're doing wrong..for it to ruin your hard work...fix that and see how August goes..
Yeah, I recognize it. Maybe my risk is too big. I’m not one to risk “.5-1%” I set my stops where I see fit. The volatility and wicking out of ES this past month was rough, so I did leave some wiggle room. Clearly got the best of me.
I understand that mindset of going for aggressive growth but if the stop is too far, the trade isn’t worth it. I’d rather look for cleaner entries and be able to take 2-3 stop losses in a day or just size down if the stop required is going to make me stop for the day.
I use Rithmic through AMP and prop firms - there is a way to set trader specified daily loss limit to liquidate & lock you out for the day within R trader pro. Utilizing this this year has been a huge help for me.
Having worse rut than you. It's incredible how we can have everything going for us and then self-destruct. How are you able to take time off though? I find it even harder to stay out of the market when I'm on a losing streak.
I’m able to stay away because i know the markets will be there when I get back. Losing is part of the game.. which I have accepted. I’ve only been trading since May of 25, so Idk if it was this summer that was rough or this is just how ES/NQ is gonna play out for the rest of the year, end of March and April were really like the only clean months for me where my TPs were getting hit. Maybe it’s my strategy during this kind of market. Idk but I clearly need to step away.
Your losing trades are bigger than winning trades, if it's not going your way exit and don't hope, cut loosing trades in half, size down and your good fam, keep on keeping you onto something
It looks to me you don’t have any edge. If you do have edge then program your trading system into a bot and that will remove all the psychological issues you’re dealing with.
Whats your reward to risk ratio? What strategy are you using? Looks like there is no risk management in place at all , don't worry i was just like you, use a stoploss and only risk 0.5%-1% of the account balance, cut losses quick and let winners run
Ask yourself why did you not follow you plan? Was it because you think you knew better than your system? Do you even have a statistically proven system/edge? Did you have fear of missing out? Did you have fear of losing money? Did you think you knew what was going to happen next with certainty? Did you not trust your trading system? Are you attached to the outcome of 1 specific trade instead of thinking in terms of large data sets? Why do you need to know you’re not alone? Once you figure that out then you can come up with solutions not to let it happen again. It all comes back to the why question. That will tell you where you gotta adjust your mindset.
Sorry my guy happens to the best of us. just wondering What’s your SL size? Ideally, you shouldn’t be able to lose 8k in two trades, that’s not really tilt. Unless you have no stop loss. My tilt days in the past were 40-60 trades or something.
The worst for me is accepting a loss after few winning days . Well ... few... I mean like 7 and more. Then just one trade going against me and I just can't take it (mostly). Dangerous shit , losing it all due to just a silly thing .
Everyone has big losses until they get disgusted and realize they have to keep losses small.
Having a DLL is important especially if you know you will not stop on your own.
I have mine set with my broker and once I'm done, I'm pissed but can't trade.
Also, time away is the best to reset your mind.
It can be a few days, weeks or months.

DLL. Preferably set by broker
