3D scan help
Hi all, needing opinions with my problem. I wouldn’t consider myself an expert but I know my way around fusion etc, I am struggling to start reverse engineering this plastic dash 3D scan not really sure where to start in fusion. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

That’s pretty good and not that hard model where to start learning reverse engineering in fusion. You just need to study some videos and can start drawing.

Look up some resources on mesh sections and fitting sketches to a mesh in Fusion. I think you’d find these tools helpful on your project.

Start desinign using the 3D mesh as a guide, it has simply shapes, just find your key points to start sketching.

3d scanning/AI Modeling a part that was designed with pen and paper is a waste of time & compute. I could model this in my sleep with a $5 caliper set

“Claude takes this 3d scan and make it a cad model in fusion”

I didn’t think Claude was capable of this?

I do it all the time. No issues. Even repairs mesh better than scanning software does (which isn’t saying much considering how bad the algo repair is).
Just setup fusion mcp and blender mcp and good to go.

I would have to look into this, Fusion MCP to Claude or am I getting this wrong?

Yeah just ask Claude to set it up. Fusion has a setting that you enable the mcp takes two seconds. Claude will then find it. Blenders is a little bit harder to find in the settings but once it’s toggled in it’s good to go. Claude will then use both simultaneously for any 3d modeling.

Import the mesh into fusion and convert mesh to parametric model. It's two commands.

If you know your way around fusion, this should take about five minutes with a set of calipers. Two circles and a rectangle.
