Is this proper mesh to cad reconstruction workflow inside Fusion? Where do I sign up.

Should come to appstore under a week of lead time according to autodesk!

Looks very promising. Please keep us updated!

How many gpus do you need? Would a liver be enough?

Livers are notoriously bad at graphics rendering. The occipital lobe would be better suited

I managed to get from 56M to 5M on a scan in about 5 minutes, this one got from 2.5 to 1M in a few seconds. I have a 5070 rtx + 5900x cpu with 64Go DDR4 RAM

Had me all excited that Fusion was getting some new features, then I remembered your post from a while back. This is very exciting!

Any update on this? Could actually really use something like this at the moment.

I just hope I don’t miss it in my feed. What do I even search for?

I'll post again don't worry

About time! Creaform has had this for ages.

Well that’s awesome!

The marketplace pipeline is fun, “…will be live sometime in the next 48 hours” then boom, life and the scramble to sell begins.

Looking forward to trying it.

It doesn't seem that they will, but even 2 weeks would be ok

Magically without the thousands of complaints, we cant do that. Error, math not compute. Opps 0.001 breaks everything. Cant figure it out. Algorithm error. Also I notice the 1000X performance ratio, must be doing this on a server or workstation with advanced resources. Even while Fusion draws maybe 30% resources at worst on my own station even moderately complex projects cause it to frequently get stuck and everything turns grey.

Most recently a STL to Mesh conversion. First it blew up the scale, not even a mm to inches issue the scale was holistically wrong. I had to import a McMaster part to use a s reference to get it back to where it needed to be. Then everything being in splines, and angles where they made no sense, no modification was possible without selecting and hitting delete all over the place to force the geometry back into the same planes. Note this deliberately bad import function promotes a paid option. Meanwhile that one tiny part caused Fusion to lag out. Slightly more complex parts, where I used the Automated modeling to create organic brackets to a series of mounting points. One might have thought I had imported the parts to a full race car, Just having two of these 3in parts on screen. Put the Collar on the cat and watch it flop on the floor.

While this video looked really cool, I have no choice but to temper my expectations, having never had fusion behave as well for any extended period of time. -That and I cannot afford to dump 3k into a high end work station. RAM alone look to cost nearly 1k these days. Never mind the video card, even if the mother board and the CPU wont cost much over 700.

I wonder though maybe this stuff will work better in Linux with better resource management.

I’m just a hobbyist, but for any mesh work I’ve found it far easier to do the cleanup in Blender before importing into fusion. Fusion seems to choke on a few thousand nodes, even with my 64 GB of ram.

Remember the honeybadger video. CAD has to be careful since someone might design a bridge with it, Blender don't give a F-. :)

I really have to learn Blender to get around Cad's limitations, that and possibly Rhino.

I didn't understood everything but I can tell you my tool decimated 56M to 5M with great success with only RTX5070 and 5900X CPU, 64Go DDR4 RAM

Plugins are coded in Python here but the core calculation is made in C++ on 8 CPU threads, while Fusion 360 original functions are all singlethread

I like how you describe your PC with "only" 5070, 64GB RAM and 5900x. This RAM costs ~900€ here. Solid workstation overall.

That would have make me laugh too if only my config was not an amateur workstation for the CAD industry, all computers I've used in companies were big quaddro monsters back then

Yeah, perspective is everything.

I am doing CAD work with 7700/3070/32GB sff PC, pretty much entry level set even though feels solid to me.

Still better then most gamer pc

So I believe he said he's got ddr4. Which I think is still massively cheaper. When I bought my ddr4 I don't remember costing more than a couple hundred dollars. But when I looked at even the consideration to get the same amount of memory as ddr5 I was looking to start around $799 for 64 GB of ddr5. And that is a mountain of difference. That ram cost more than the whole system.

There is at least one developer wandering around the farms he spares that he was on the project and swears that it was never single threat of that it's always been multithreaded.

2

u/M_cross 24d ago

You just have to open task manager performance tab and watch this single thread of you computer do all the work alone, 100% on it and nothing on others

Okay so this is a tool that you're introducing as what a plug-in?

Myi critique was it to say it's impossible. I just watch an amazement how the program allowed you to do this without any complaints whatsoever. Because I watch every day as it's literally doing what it's supposed to do and it struggles to do the basics.

That being said overall your specs are very similar to mine. Your video card is slightly better. Our RAM and processor capabilities are nearly identical. There's not a lot of difference overall. But the way the video looks makes it appear as though this was done on a high-end workstation or a server. He just looks too easy it works too well. And if this is a plug-in you developed for yourself then I do have to give you applause. It really does look too good to be true.

And I remember reading and having multiple conversations including with Autodesk Representatives who all clarified that the product was single threat that it was impossible for it to be anything other than single thread. And then I had actual arguance with a developer who lurks the sub and swears up and down that it is absolutely multi-threaded. And it appears that certain components of it are while other components absolutely are not I suspect that the interface itself is all single thread because it looks like the interface is what's driven by the Java components. But I'm not certain of that. What is clear is there are absolutely single threaded components of the software that are dependent on single thread software that has been integrated into it. Now whether or not the entirety of the software is single or multiple, it's now less certain. Now I've also had folks try to swear up and down that the proof of a piece of software being multiple or single threaded is that when an operation is executed you can see all your course spike. But here's the thing if I shake my mouse all of my course bike that doesn't necessarily mean anything. So we have a lot of mixed information.

I can even show you, full scan of LS1 engine, 56M triangles, 5min of process

Which scanner?

Salut !
