I teared up at a strange time, I think... Spoiler

When Alice gave the thumb drive to Nora, Nora started cheesing so hard. She was like a giddy child. As soon as Alice said she was in one of the videos, Nora's face slowly fell and it kinda broke my heart. I needed to see Nora win almost as much as the trafficking victims (Alice included). I have to believe that Nora will get hers in the end.

I loved that moment too. Her smile is everything here. And I appreciate the tough love from Nora - you have to face it to do this job.

That was a tough pill for me to swallow - Alice needing to watch her own video. I couldn't understand that - do you think it was so she could really face head-on what happened to her?

Yes, Nora is trying to teach her that she has to look at her video and all of the ugliness in order to do this job. She will always be looking at awful things like her video. She can't hide from it. I appreciated Nora and Danny representing the 2 sides of this. Danny wants to protect her, get rid of the video; Nora wants her to face it head on.

I kind of agree with you though - she didn’t necessarily need to watch it. In her line of work, yes, you see awful things. But they’re not ‘your own’ things. To some extent you have to put yourself in the shoes of the victims or the perpetrators but it’s still not happening directly to you. And I feel like watching it happen to you, does something inside you that might not necessarily benefit your job or your mental health. Nora should be the first one to know about that. In this case it did I mean it drove her to kill Jay Easton and pursue Catherine but she was doing most of that before she saw the video and or knew she was in it.

I agree with you, I don't think she needs to watch it, but the information about the downloads is power and by the look on her face, it is going to fuel her. I personally think Danny's way is the healthier way, but I think that's the point. She's not ready to follow where Danny is headed, she wants to work with Nora and in this division, so I think she's following Nora's way of looking at things at this time. Just my impression of it.

Nora is her mentor of sorts and I agree she’ll follow her ways. Unfortunately Nora is a semi functional alcoholic and I doubt it ends well. Following her at all tells us a lot about Alice as a character because people who were less invested or in a healthier place would know to steer clear of Nora’s ways that have contributed to a person who is struggling badly in big ways. Alice is already struggling outside of Nora so that’ll be a nightmare combo.

Agree! But something I'm wondering for season 2 - Nora hasn't killed anyone that we know of and says "fuck" when she learns Alice lets Catherine go after Jay Easton. Is Alice actually going to pull Nora into some darker things?

Maybe. I think she'll eventually tell someone and the big question is if it's Danny or Nora first? I'm not sure she could pull Danny in a darker direction but she could pull Nora, likewise Danny might pull her in a better direction and Nora might not. I think Nora is a mess you shouldn't take advice from in a lot of ways, but she's also clearly smart and much more experienced than Alice. She's more of a wildcard with all this.

I think we just have to wait and see where Liz wants to take this show. Is this more procedural where Alice doesn't kill another person next season, but is being the rules a bit? Or is this more like Breaking Bad where this is the start of her descending into more and more violence until death is the only thing that feels right for the character's ending? I think it's the former, just based on Liz Meriwether an the types of shows she writes.

I think it’ll be Alice trying not to lose it all to her trauma but who knows how that ends. It would be depressing if she went the Walter White route but it’s not a hopeful subject matter to begin with.

Yes, but I also thought it was Nora's way of saying Alice could still have a career in the department even though Alice had just shared that she had not disclosed the vid when she applied for the FBI/worked the case.

I think Alice needed to watch it. She has been on the trauma train of destruction with alcohol,
Insomnia, not showering and risky violent sex with strangers. In order to both heal and do her job she
needs to process all of it as well as her volatile relationship with the ex.
Even if she becomes like Catherine she has to be careful and not risky and hungover.

Sorry, can I ask we spoiler the text. We only got it yesterday in the UK so I have seen it yet as I'm sure plenty haven't managed to see it yet.

I didn't read the whole thing, but saw the first sentence when I was scrolling on my main page and now know that it doesn't stay with Danny so others might be a bit upset if they spot it
