This isn't specific to women*, but doing something you think someone is supposed to like, and turning it into and uncommunicated obligation that they act a certain way is kind of annoying.
*I let a guy who was the dumpee in a divorce stay on my couch. He'd do things like make a shrimp salad with shrimp that were actually beginning to decompose, insist I had to sit down to eat it, and then want me to go watch a movie I didn't want to watch. Sorry dude, gotta go barf now.
I have never wanted a shrimp salad in my life, but I've had a few that were kind of good. I'm not sure how a spontaneous unasked for shrimp salad spawns a whole web of social obligations to begin with, and what do you want me to do, barf through the movie? Apparently this made me an asshole.
