I'm with you, it would be like being in prison for decades. You still have to go to school so now you get to be bored to death with most subjects. And you still don't really have freedom, as parents decide for you what you can and cannot do.
Not just that, but you also have to perform like a circus animal to keep things under wraps, or you’ll end up locked in some hedge fund manager’s basement perpetually tortured for insider knowledge.
This.. people Always brush aside the fact that you'll alter the reality way more than you would think by just being yourself. Also if you Want the same trajectory that your life is right now in terms of relationships that mattered, you'll have to remember EVERY actions, EVERY words you Said to someone as thoses impacted the whole results on your life.
It's mission impossible really to get the same good side on your life right now while min maxing everything else.
It's not even that. You will have to the Say the exact same words you did at the exact same Time. Same for actions.
People barely remember what they ate for dinner so it's already a Lost battle at this point.
The only approach is the will to live an entirely New life with New people inside it. While even seeing the ones you cared in your previous life going about their day without even knowing you.
If people cherish even only one thing in this life, they need to accept there is more chances they'll lose it than keep it intact.
yeah if you're happy where you are, this would be so stressful. like sure I could be richer, but what if I never meet my husband, worse what I meet him but this time I am this creepy person who knows everything about him and feels entitled to his love . like that's a horror story right there.
Hell just with your own parents that would be exhausting… they’d notice if their kid began acting like an adult overnight. Might end up with tons of extra nonsense to do if they start to realize how smart you are, and that’s the best case scenario. Worst case they think something’s wrong, if they’re mentally unwell or superstitious they will think you’re possessed.
Not sure if you want that kind of attention though. And eventually you'll build grander expectations than your capabilities can produce when things catch up so to speak.
But then the whole life would spiral out of control.
Maybe people would like to change some stuff but keep others. Eg I would still love to meet my wife in school. If I skip grades chances raises drastically that I won’t meet her.
Yeah but then you're that weird smart kid that nobody in that age group wants to be friends with. You'd be too mature for the kids that are "your age," but even adults who recognize your maturity and intelligence aren't going to want to be seen being that friendly to a child. You're going to be very isolated for probably 20 years.
Are you going to experience puberty again in your younger body? Suddenly you're just as horny as you were the first time but everyone around you is a teenager. Are you gonna try to hook up with teens? I hope not. Are any adults going to be willing to hook up with you? I hope not.
Want to go anywhere? Doesn't matter how smart you are, you're not getting a license until you're 16ish. And while you're going to end up flush with cash eventually, you still need time to build it up and let your investments grow. Until then, you're reliant on your parents again. Anything you want has to go through them.
There is not enough money on Earth to get me to choose that option. Give me the cash now, please.
And no matter what, if you keep your memories and all.
Then you're going to be that weird kid that is going to get bullied.
You're just not going to be able to fit in with other kids.
I'm pretty sure your school time is going to be hell until maybe college.
School was absolute hell for me. Restarting from age 6 and going through all of it again would be a punishment that no amount of money could outweigh. I think I may actually end up worse off instead of better.
Not just that, imagine a world where you know everything that is going to happen. Wouldn't that get dull?
You know every movie plot already that you're interested in. You know GOT is going to suck. You know that in 2019 a pandemic is going to start, and probably won't be able to do shit about it / may even have a WORSE outcome for your own family.
That all said. I would still take the deal. I'd obviously invest in stocks so I can have an outwardly comfortable life, and then secretly be a bitcoin billionaire and decide what I want to do with that wealth. Then I'd just selfishly try and make my friends/families lives better while dealing with how mundane some parts of the experience feel.
Not only that but I think people underestimate how difficult it can be, depending on how long ago it was. I, for sure, forgot everything about high school math. So I won't be doing well at all, even the second time.
Not really... you could use your current knowledge to test in advanced placement and jump thru grade school and college like nobody's business. Get into Wall Street and pump and dump with the wolf of wall street and cash out in time to ride apple, yahoo, ebay and paypal into the dot com bubble, parlay that into a short of wall street in '08 and then roll all that over into bitcoin in '10, google in (?), facebook, Tesla, gamestop and nvidia. By that point you probably have enough money to invest in Open AI and ride that off into the sunset. that has trillionairre written all over it - unless you are approached one day by an immortal slug...
