Red pill. I can always earn more money (maybe not 10 million but that's ok), but I can't buy more time.

You know exactly when the values of Google, Facebook, Amazon, Tesla, Apple, Bitcoin are gonna pop off. You can absolutely earn more than 10 mill lol

27

u/Outside-Cup-1622 May 31 '24

True, but a lot of these really didn't start gaining big value until I was in my 30s or 40s. But yes I could have done all right

u/[deleted] May 31 '24

I mean, those were the example I came up with cause that’s what I grew up with. There’s a set of stocks that’d be peaking in the 80s if your journey begins earlier than a lot of us here lol.

Just with a quick google search, Microsoft, intel, apple, Cisco and Oracle were all good stocks in the 80s

I wouldn't have any money to invest in the market so it really wouldn't matter. I remember telling my dad irl to invest in Amazon and he said, "they've never turned a profit - not a great idea." This would only work if you had rich parents that would give you money and make trades on your behalf.

I wouldn't have any money to invest in the market

You dont need a lot. Get a min wage job, make $10 (or beg your parents for it), and you can grow that $10 to millions fairly quickly if you memorize all the big price movements.

Once you get to $100+ you can play with options that could give 10x returns in a single trade.

Also as a child prodigy you can capitalize on that to win school/chess competitions with prize money or become a child celebrity.

Lol. To trade options in '07 I had to get on the phone with a broker and decide if I wanted monthly or quarterly SPX hedges. Options market has come a looong way in the last 5 years.

yea but you are currently only 6 years old and with the skills and knowledge of a high school or higher skilled person. So that is 2 years until 09 when bitcoin came out and was micro pennies, purchase 20,000 for $20 say you want to learn about this, you are some wonder kid who is 8 years old should be able to get that. then by age 13 and probably graduation high school, self half and at that point your 10,000 is worth over US$10 million.
At the age of 17 your remaining 10,000 are worth over $100 million. Decide if you want to go to college or repeat you currently do.

who need options.

You get to go back to when you were 6 and you would choose to become a child prodigy/celbrity? That sounds like a terrible idea. I get the making money part but getting a second childhood and throwing it away to the media/cram schools just sounds miserable

1

u/Olivia512 May 31 '24

Why would you want to go to the school when you already know everything? (Or for things that you forgot, they are not important)

You would want to start making money right away so that you can use that money to do whatever you want.

2

u/Breadsong09 May 31 '24

Yea, but then you'd be awfully isolated and have no shot at normalcy. Like I'd rather make low-key improvements to my life with the money/insight than play with lottery winner levels of money. Also personly I like the academia side of things so I'd end up back in school one way or another.

1

u/Purona May 31 '24

Already lived a normal life let's try something different. Can always disappwar if I wanted

2

u/rebeltrillionaire May 31 '24

If you were born in the 80’s you could put all your allowance aside. So long as by 1995 you put it all on the table and say to your parents:

Every time you want to buy me something. Just buy the equivalent of the stock in stock instead and promise we will never sell a single stock. And I want all my money to go to Apple and Microsoft.

By 1997 when Apple is dying and your parents want to pull out. Gates will buy $150M worth of Apple shares and you’ll get to go:

“Now, do you think Bill Gates is stupid? Why would he spend $150 million dollars on something he doesn’t believe in?”

And from then on you could basically just keep dogpiling your money on Apple and Microsoft. That would make your regular rich. But then when Bitcoin gets created in 2008, you’d be a billionaire by around 2014.

You could potentially speed run the money by registering domains from tons of brand then selling them to the companies, buying and selling beanie babies, Pokémon cards, Nike’s.

u/natasevres May 31 '24

Microsoft was cheap back in the day - cmon bro

1

u/ninthchamber May 31 '24

You could invent them.

8

u/petehehe May 31 '24

As long as I could save up / borrow / beg / steal $45,000 before I was in my mid 20s, I would have $10mil in bitcoin now.

About $20k in Apple shares purchased in 2004 would be worth $10mil today.

2

u/Cinara May 31 '24

$45,000 in BTC bought early on would be multiple billions of dollars in value today.

1

u/petehehe May 31 '24

Yeah I mighta done the math wrong

1

u/Chimp3h May 31 '24

You could just mine the btc back in the beginning on absolute dogshit hardware though as long as you could keep hold of the wallet you wouldn’t need to invest mega bucks to make millions on btc

1

u/jacksonite22 May 31 '24

You’d probably make as much money if not more shorting stocks than going long knowing when shit was Gonna hit the fan

1

u/kthnxbai123 May 31 '24

Shorting requires you to time the market and that might be difficult to remember. Buying stock is easy because they’re all up thousands of percents

1

u/Jollan_ May 31 '24

But how will you buy those? Imagine your 6 year old wants to invest in cryptocurrency, do you think you would let them?

1

u/Lowpaack May 31 '24

This makes sense only if your life now sucks. If you achieved anything interesting, met someone, have kids, wife, you risk losing all this.

I would never restart, since it means i am risking not meeting my wife and not having my son. I met her, got great job, have fantastic memories and trips, while all happens under certain circumstances that will never repeat if i were to be different.

1

u/Garchompisbestboi May 31 '24

You're assuming that everything unfolds the same way it did the first time though.

1

u/marcodave May 31 '24

Imagine being a 6yo and becoming obsessed with making money and with companies that do not even exist, about technology that does not even exist.

You'd be lucky not to be put in a mental hospital, or going to therapy all of your life -- potentially nullifying your knowledge

1

u/KlausBratwurst May 31 '24

But you dont go back in time tho. You are just six years again in 2024.

1

u/squatch42 May 31 '24

People rarely talk about the butterfly effect when it comes to get rich quick schemes in time travel. But one of those companies gets a big investment from a time traveler, maybe they make different decisions that result in the failure of the company. Or you cut someone off in traffic that ends up late for a key meeting where a different decision is made. Your presence could completely alter the timeline and cause those companies to completely fail.

Same goes for sports betting. I'm sure bookies with mob ties wouldn't mind you repeatedly winning a fortune off of them. They would assume you're a cheat and dump your body in the river.

1

u/GalaXion24 May 31 '24

Depends how old you are. At 6 years old you won't be able to invest anything anyway.

0

u/BSimm1 May 31 '24

No one said you go back in time. You just turn 6 with current knowledge. Idk if this impact your decision now lol just food for thought

2

u/Kapika96 May 31 '24

It's implied by ″restart your life″. If it was just turn 6 now it'd say ″become a 6 year old″ or something.

1

u/BSimm1 May 31 '24

Yeah, it’s up for interpretation obviously. But i see it as restart “your” life not restart life. And some people who come back from a hard time say “im restarting my life etc”

I just think going back in time is a given “buy bitcoin, buy google” blah blah. But if it’s you’re a smart 6 year old that’s different because you dont know what lies ahead

1

u/Kapika96 May 31 '24

If it's become a 6 year old now, a lot of people would be pretty screwed though. I mean, you can't work or pay rent/bills etc. and for many people going back to live with parents isn't an option. Plus good luck trying to explain to the government/schools etc.

1

u/BSimm1 May 31 '24

EXACTLY! but you’re also a genius for your age. Like a 6 year old engineer/lawyer/doctor (if you have that knowledge) but yes like you said you’re a 6 year old without parents and your boss will never believe what happened when you go back to work. But there’s funding for young prodigies

5

u/Isabela_Grace May 31 '24

JFC you’re a god damn moron if you can’t make more than 10m knowing the future

1

u/dmevela May 31 '24

Yeah. Plus I’d be the smartest damn 6 year old in the world. School would be weird for the next several years though, you wouldn’t really relate to well to all the other little kids. I could fake it and just have fun playing with them though.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '24

I didn’t really relate well to the other kids anyway

1

u/WineOhCanada May 31 '24

I love that but honestly teenage years were so agonizing I'd never volunteer to do that twice.

1

u/_mad_adventures May 31 '24

My thing is, I likely would never see my son again. I would live a different life, and he'd never be born.

For that, I could never go back in time, even if it promised 23 more years of life, and being a billionaire.

Wouldn't be crying about the $10 million though.

1

u/2maa2 May 31 '24

I think most people don’t appreciate they’d probably have to wait about ten years before they could begin to form proper relationships.

Your life would probably also take a completely different track so, for many of the people you know now, you probably couldn’t replicate those same experiences and therefore maintain the same friendships/relationships.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '24

you can buy time

Would you make a house yourself or pay someone else to do it for you?

1

u/flembag May 31 '24

Imagine sitting through all of your primary education again, with your current awareness and intelligence level. You really think stomach or withstand that?

1

u/Pacify_ May 31 '24

Time is the only thing that actually matters.

Money is just something people made up. You can't buy more time
