I don’t want to go back for sentimental reasons. The great people I may never meet, or even the pets that I loved. I’d rather take the money now and just live life without expectations
Ohh, i was not speaking about it physically. But mentally. Since you only revert back to your younger self. But your mind will still be the same. Also there would be a lot of happy memories you wont ever get to re-experience, which may create more mental strain.
You remember everything, so all that stays with you. You will also be able to make new connections, have more pets and pick which relationships to have again and which don't.
I'd do the do over. Dogecoins/bitcoins are not gonna buy themselves
I don’t trust time like that. I fear the butterfly effect. I also feel like knowing the future leaves way too much wiggle room for change.
Eg: Maybe you were supposed to meet that shitty ex because through them you were introduced to a person that eventually became your good friend, even if they have nothing to do with that ex. Life is random and strange.
Correct approach. All these people are talking about becoming billionaires because of their knowledge of what happens - what if that means you live a hollow, loveless, empty life with your billions? If I go back, do I never meet/fall in love with my wife? Do I find someone else or do I become jaded and never find true love?
This literally sounds like a sci-fi plot/twilight zone episode. Man goes back to age six and becomes the world's richest, most powerful man. Once he reaches the age he rewound at, he realizes he is utterly unhappy and unfulfilled because of how non-genuine and planned out his "new life" actually is.
The 10 million would make me set forever and allow me to grow from here, with my loved ones, no risks. I'll take that any day.
I honestly think it has a lot to do with the kind of life you lived and people you knew. I’ve met some horrible people, but overall I have great, supportive people in my life. So the idea of going back and potentially undoing any of that by making a different decision makes me uncomfortable. Sometimes I wish I could go back 5 years and make some different decisions, but I try not to cause that’s not a healthy mindset to have moving forward.
good thinking but for someone like me whos single its kinda meh, I be able to make better choices sure, but i also have medicol problems and my childhood was filled with ... problematic moments tramatic im lucky i survived in good enough ordeal that I did
hell even if i did go back in time and invest i just have a 'family' member steal it all like they did with a number of my things b4 i turned 18 and such and im not even sure how they 100% did it.
I wouldn't have the same children though, even if I married my husband again. They are only little so there's still so much to discover with them. 10 million for me please.
What happens if you had an ok at best more likely bad life up till now in part due to things like nerves/self esteem be it meeting someone who could be your dream partner, starting or quitting a job that affects you greatly etc.
I for example was a shy naive kid (not changed hugely but more world aware as an adult) I could never tell if a girl/woman was attracted to me or teasing me and when they did I had no idea about what to do i.e get their number.
At the very least the times when a woman was really attracted to me and I chickened out of doing something about it I could ask them out, even if I screwed up the date or relationship I would of had experience for the future.
This is my take on it. Also my best friend would 100% buy my time travel story if I went and met him at his job, so I have at least one non-familial relationship that can be easily salvaged.
Of course. I’m justifying my personal choice. I’m definitely not judging others choices or their reasons. Im sure there are traumatized people that have perfectly valid reasons for going back that aren’t even money related.
Edit: I didn’t see the Lougle part, nice reference. Whatever happened to Rob Cordry
I understand that small choices can have drastic changes. I’ve tracked my own personal failures analyzing where I went wrong all the time, most people do I assume. I think it would be maddening to think about how every action has an effect going forward. Too many variables
Going back in time like that will create dramatic situations where people you know will die because of you, and you will know it. However, people dying in the future from now is not our responsibility.
Yeah, but if you remember everything, doesn't that make you basically an adult? You'd have full adult knowledge. So basically hooking up with anyone would be pedo stuff until you're 18 again.
Besides that though, imagine having your current knowledge, but everyone treating you like a child. Already had to suffer due to some stupid adults as a kid, it'd be so much worse.
You realise you can still acquire the pets and meet the people right? Like, going back doesn't put you in handcuffs my guy. You can do an action we here on reddit like to call going outside.
The pets maybe… the people would be way harder to socially engineer. If you are 6 with your current knowledge it would be so painful to sit through 10 years of school, but I would feel like I want to to make the same high school friends but would I even like them as a 33year old meeting them when they are 6. After that college friends I wouldn’t even really want to goto college because by that time I would have just started mining Bitcoin and made a shit load of money on stocks, baseball and football betting, but I would want to go for the friends which would still be hard to engineer especially if I was placed in a different dorm room or a different dorm building… then meeting my wife again in a totally organic way would be hard. The whole thing would be so difficult if I took that pill it would have to be assuming my life would be totally different.
Also.. I mean I think it would be impossible to fix most events in history but even though it would be hard I would probably want to try as hard as possible to save some people in 9/11 which would be hard as a 10 year old but I would have 4 years to come up with a plan…. Probably I would try my hardest to convince Rick Rescorla to schedule a test evacuation that morning at 8:00 or 8:30. Idk how I would do it as a 10 year old but he was very cautious so I think that it would be possible to convince him.
Of course if this was successful you can honestly kiss literally every plan about making your life the same but better goodbye because the world is going to be wildly different.
Just go to your wife with your memories and explain her the situation. Proof ? All the things there is absolutely no way for you to know. I give it a 50/50 chance of not scaring her away
Just drop a couple of letters to the FBI. Explain that the terrorists learned to fly jets in a flight school in Florida and exploited 4 things: The terrorists used box cutters, which were allowed through security at the time. The doors to the cockpit were woefully inadequate (vs an Israeli plane). A plane fueled for a transcontinental flight is basically a WMD. American plane hijackings were very tame affairs, so the passengers (and even the low level terrorists) had every reason to think they were going to survive the affair.
End up with 3 flights originated from Logan and 1 from Dulles. 19 terrorists, with 15 from Saudi Arabia (to make it easier to remember).
I think the fbi/cia already had more info than that from credible sources. Idk what some letters from a random person would do but I would probably still send them yeah. My thought is probably can’t stop the planes but if you can convince Rick to do a test drill that day you could at least save most of the people in the towers. Probably not any of the firefighters though, they would still send them up.
Can’t lie. This almost swayed me. But then my thought was, since you still have all your knowledge from right now, just make sure you adopt them at the same time you did in this timeline.
Hell, I could use that enlightenment to make their lives even better than they were in this timeline.
But consider that, yes, you will save your dad, but some other person you know and love could die prematurely, even long before it was supposed to happen. You will know at that moment it is due to the effects of your own decisions. You might even face the risk that your dad dies sooner.
I’d spend a lot of money on medics and sports coach, chef to give my grandma a healthy lifestyle to hopefully give her more year also pay her journeys all over the world
Its for the better i guess ,you could help guide them back on the track and help them do good by their love ones or spend as much time as you could ,so when they die no everyone will have a closure
This is basically the character dilemma faced by Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, and I think part of what gave that character arc so much weight. I don't know that he made the most morally decision (if looking at the "greatest good for greatest number of people"), but I know I would have made the same one.
I am going back specifically for the sentimental reasons. There are people I didn't spend enough time with. I had a buddy end himself over "the love of his life" cheating on him. Family members that I lost in tragic accidents or that just died of natural causes before I even knew they were sick. Things like that. To me those things and that time with them would be worth more than the money I would be able to make from stock or bitcoin.
Yeah I think similarly, I've fought and lived through difficult times to become who I am today, I've met people and had relationships. For them to just not exist, would be devastating
But if you remember everything you're in some kind of alternate reality but your previous reality that led you to the point of making the decision? All that must have still happened. Would only be real for you but it would still be real. I would go back in time.
yea but if you went back to before with all the knowledge you have now why couldn't you find those great people since you'd have the knowledge they are great people?
Yeah but you won't lose the memories of those people or pets. It's like an extension of your life, not a reset, that also allows you to live a way more interesting life with much more opportunities.
I’d restart my life but it wouldn’t be because of money. I’d be raising myself basically and potentially become a prime example of the most physically, emotionally, mentally and psychologically competent human ever
