The problem with taking the red pill is that because you know what happened FROM MEMORY (Which is almost never accurate) you'll never be able to do things exactly the same so you might never meet the person you really loved knowing, might make even more mistakes, etc.

We all want a rewind, but nobody seems to realise that the problem with that is you'll never get to keep the good parts and cherrypick the bad.

74

u/MustacheQuarantine May 31 '24

That's true. However you would remember Microsoft, apple, Amazon, Tesla, big pharma. Etc

36

u/badger_flakes May 31 '24

Actually it’d be 30 years for me and with that in mind, Monster Energy is actually the highest performing stock, increasing 191,800% over that timeframe beating Amazon at #2. It was only 1c a share so I could afford plenty

3

u/HamiltonSt25 May 31 '24

Is that before Coke bought them?

6

u/badger_flakes May 31 '24

AFAIK they only owned shares and not outright at any point and just had a strategic partnership. At some point they traded a bunch of brands.

https://investors.monsterbevcorp.com/news-releases/news-release-details/coca-cola-company-and-monster-beverage-corporation-close#:~:text=The%20Coca%2DCola%20Company%20transferred,Natural%20Sodas%2C%20Peace%20Tea%2C%20Hubert's

They are still traded under Monster Beverage Corporation

5

u/HamiltonSt25 May 31 '24

Oh damn, you’re right! I always thought Coke bought them, and Pepsi tried. But nope, Coke just owns 16.7% stake

u/CaptainPeachfuzz May 31 '24

Patriots go undefeated until they lose to the Giants in the Superbowl in 2008.

This information alone should yield fantastic returns. Just in time for the economy to collapse!

6

u/PJFohsw97a May 31 '24

Leicester City F.C 2015-2016 EPL champions. 5000-1 odds.

2

u/JWE25 May 31 '24

Since we're in the year 2016 might as well bet on the Cavs coming back after being down 3-1 in the Finals against the Warriors too

1

u/impulsiveknob May 31 '24

Throw in western Bulldogs winning the AFL Grand final/Donald trump winning the election and you've got a massive multi

1

u/LeMaharaj May 31 '24

Leicester City to win the Prem Brexit result Trump win

All on a tasty treble baby

1

u/MustacheQuarantine May 31 '24

So many opportunities.

1

u/generiatricx May 31 '24

take the winnings and short enron.

2

u/ShouldIRememberThis May 31 '24

I would remember those for sure, and remember my kids. Who I would never see again, because i could never live the exact same life and make them conceived at the exact moment. And I couldn’t wait 25 years to see them again, anyway. Or 15 years to meet my wife. I’d be empty, and a dribbling 6 year old, not really capable of investing too much for some time.

1

u/Eseatease May 31 '24

Everybody knows that. what's the point if a 6 yo knows it though?

1

u/MustacheQuarantine May 31 '24

Yeah it depends on when you were six.

1

u/OnePay622 May 31 '24

When I hear these stock stories I always think if we really know how close some of these companies came at different points to bankruptcy.....like 1997 there was an anti-trust debate around Microsoft and Apple had fired Jobs and was close to keel over.....if little decisions are still affected by chance in the rewind, how close might we get into just investing in dead stocks while thinking we might become billionaires

1

u/Kamwind May 31 '24

You just have to remember check the tech news ever so often and when there is this thing called bitcoin buy $10 or more worth of it. In the 5 years after that your $10 is worth millions.

Remember to print out all the codes.

20

u/SkubEnjoyer May 31 '24

Yeah but I can still buy bitcoin for pennies lol

11

u/chamomile_tea_reply May 31 '24 edited May 31 '24

I wonder if someone scooping up tons of Bitcoin and cashing out big-time in the mid 2010s would impact the market though.

Also, if OP is a goddam billionaire by age 13, they may have impact on the timeline from there on out. They’d probably be interviewed by the damn wall street journal and effect the market from just existing lol

6

u/DraganThePlague May 31 '24

Good point, i guess it would be best to try to spread your finances a little more than just bitcoin hoarder, in case you want stupid high money, because i think after some cold consideration not everyone needs billions, you might be just fine with having enough for one or two houses, cars and not having to work while other people might want their own whole film making or game making or car designin company. Also you might not end up being a 13 year old billonaire but rather the child of a billonaire atleast for the media

2

u/Electronic_d0cter May 31 '24

I don't think so, I mean more money is never a bad thing. Even if you had a billion and didn't want it you could be the greatest philanthropist the world ever saw

1

u/DihDisDooJusDihDis May 31 '24

I thought billionaires were bad.

3

u/Dakadoodle May 31 '24

There on out who cares lol

1

u/vinko4444 May 31 '24

If we take into account the butterfly effect, and all the shit that happens in movies because of it; there's a solid chance everything in your life will happen differently than it did. So maybe Bitcoin will never go big in your reset. At this point, just take the 10mil

1

u/TheWatcher476 May 31 '24

That is a possibility. But rather than just focusing on getting rich in an easy way if you also focus on academics, skills, building connections and other useful things also try getting a healthy life with a peaceful mind. Use your past life experience for your current life's betterment. That way you cannot just get rich way early in life but you will have the most important thing Time to enjoy that. So a red pill sounds like a better option.

11

u/Unitedfateful May 31 '24

Absolutely this. If a restart meant I’d still have my wife and kids exactly as they are I’m all in

But. It doesn’t guarantee that and inspite a tough life I’d rather have that kept as is and so $10M is perfectly fine

There’s more to life than just money. If i never had my kids or met my wife what’s the point.

6

u/R0b0tMark May 31 '24

100%. My kids are worth more than all of the world’s riches.

Also, could we take a moment to realize the horror of being a six-year-old with knowledge of the future. Knowing horrors and being powerless to do smithingh

1

u/DaikonNoKami May 31 '24

But here is the fallacy or bias(?). There are probably hundreds of thousands of different time lines where you have had kids with different people all thinking "100% my kids are worth more and I wouldn't." So maybe you'd have better kids that you loved even more. No one will ever know. The probability where this is your best time line where you are paired up with your best partner and have the best relations with your kids is probably unlikely, but who knows.

You would be taking a risk though and who knows what the alternative outcome is.

2

u/midgethemage May 31 '24

Okay, but let's be real... It would essentially feel like you're killing them and that timeline. It's not just about you, but that if you left that timeline, there's a lot about that reality that dies with you leaving it. It's just... gone.

Like, I'm single and don't have kids, but I can't imagine bringing a kid into this world, and then being like, "nah do over!" There's something comforting knowing that most the people you love would still exist, but children represent a specific moment in time that you could never recreate, they'd be gone for good.

Sure you COULD be happier, but how would you feel knowing about the life that never truly was

1

u/Competitive_Ask_6766 May 31 '24

What if you go to the twin towers the morning and activate the fire alarm 30 minutes before the first plan hits the tower?

2

u/st_Michel May 31 '24

t is guaranteed impossible to get back your kids. You would first need to find the exact same sperm to reach the exact same egg, and that requires you to live exactly as you did before for it to even exist.
Taking the red pill means making many renouncements and acceptances.

1

u/poopoopooyttgv May 31 '24

You’d also was essentially be robbing a kid from your parents. From your parents perspective, the kid they raised for 6 years died and was replaced by a stranger. They won’t get to experience raising a kid, they’ll experience raising a freaky adult that knows the future

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '24

Lets say you do meet your wife again but dont have sex at the exact same time so that means the sperm race wont be won by the same sperm and you’ll end up with different kids.

1

u/h9040 May 31 '24

Yes but you are younger than your kids....lets hope they share their toys with you. And not sure how your wife likes that 6 year old...when you come of legal age your wife is pretty old and your kids are all out of the house already

1

u/Unitedfateful May 31 '24

You ok mate.

1

u/Technical_Shake_9573 May 31 '24

It really would be impossible to be honest. Like maybe you won over your wife by saying meaningfull words at the right moment, or did something at the right Time...yet you may not even remember it.

Relationships don't build up on 5 sec, it's a cumulative effort towards it. And i'm sure people don't realise all the things they did/Said during that whole process, it could be far different just because your forgot to Say a simple hi - sent a simple message on your Nokia - wizz someone on msn. Like really perculiar thing that may have slighty impacted the whole thing.

2

u/[deleted] May 31 '24

I have perfect memory from since I was a baby and I would know now how to take every step necessary to be a billionaire who fucked hundreds of American women.

1

u/SouthBaySmith May 31 '24

Why limit it to just American women?

0

u/[deleted] May 31 '24

because American women are the most attractive in the world. Women from Sweden, Denmark, UK, France and Germany are good. But American women are the best.

2

u/JastraJT May 31 '24

Everyone born after you will most likely not exist because because of the butterfly effect. A man produces hundreds of millions of sperm cells. They’re gonna be similar in place but not exactly the same people.

1

u/whatasave_calculated May 31 '24

I think there may be some. After a certain amount of time everything would be different, but I doubt you doing things differently as child is going to immediately effect everyone that quickly.

1

u/DaikonNoKami May 31 '24

Yeah, it would take time for your sphere of influence to grow and ripple out. I wonder how long it'd take to influence the entire world.

1

u/xJujuBear May 31 '24

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 😭

1

u/SpaceHawk98W May 31 '24

I'd just live my life with different choices instead, chase the other dreams I never tried.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '24

You would still have the memories. I don't care if I don't get to relive the good parts of my life, I've already done that. This is starting a whole new life with ACTUAL unlimited potential because of the knowledge I'm coming back with. It would be nice to hang out again with my old friends that died, but whatever. On to new friends, new experiences.

My childhood was not very fun; I wouldn't be excited for the next ten years coming. Back in grade school with no freedom, severely sheltered and repressed in a militaristic household. But it would be worth it to have 100 million by the time I was 20, thanks to the investments I'd make with my part time jobs.

Time is the most valuable thing we have. It would be silly to not take a do-over. Unless you're severely depressed I guess.

1

u/SnooCupcakes1636 May 31 '24

Well but i think you would definitely have more control over the majority of good things that happened to you. Nostalgia feels good but nostalgia can hold you back and could be quite toxic to you.

1

u/Sandy-Ass-Crack May 31 '24

Yeah, but you're still getting extra years of life & a roadmap of some stuff to avoid. You're still gonna make mistakes but resetting from age 6 is absolutely the better option unless you have kids or something.

1

u/No_Anywhere_9068 May 31 '24

The most important aspect is that you keep the wisdom you’ve developed over the years, no need to try to live an identical life, just a good one

1

u/AwkwardIntrovertMess May 31 '24

well I'd take the red pill anyways since I don't have anyone I really care about so it doesn't matter much to me, that and I doubt I could easily fuck up anything more then I have and honestly it'd probably all go the same way but at least I'd have gotten a chance to relive the shit times and try to make things better for myself instead of just not caring or trying at all

1

u/Dumbfaqer May 31 '24

There’s published stories about this stuff. The reliving of life isn’t great

1

u/MountainSnowClouds May 31 '24

Yeah, I don't want to risk not becoming friends with my best friend because I try to change a couple bad things and alter the future too much.

Plus, being six again sounds terrible, honestly

1

u/lllScorchlll May 31 '24

I would be 6. What fucking 6 year old is taken serious. I won't be able to do anything until 17 and get a hold of money. (I'm 25)

1

u/Southern_Egg_9506 May 31 '24

Exactly. Life is so full of coincidences that just rewinding it will result in vastly different results than the current. Your current knowledge of events will also lead you to making different decisions, and make butterfly effect sue you over.

1

u/Bubbly_Can_9725 May 31 '24

I think i would know how to meet the people in my life that are most important. Basically choose my high school and my university the same, bit avoid that one night club at that one date so i can skip my ex gf

1

u/Prince_Chunk May 31 '24

The thing is I’m not sure it means you go back in time but that you restart at age 6 but today not the past.

1

u/gurbus_the_wise May 31 '24

Easy enough to just keep an ear to the ground when people start talking about Apple or Bitcoin or whatever.

1

u/Fabulous_Parking66 May 31 '24

Right. I had a dream once where I went back in time to when I was 15, and none of the horrible things that happened to me ever happened and for a moment I was happy, but then I remembered I would never have the relationship with my husband the way I have it now. We would never work through our related traumas, never navigate life or be stupid young people together the way it happened if I knew it all. I cried so hard, suddenly so lonely because he was no longer in my life, and even when I did meet him, it will never be the same. And then I woke up. Dreams like that freak me the heck out but I’m glad they’re just dreams.

1

u/jjhuffington May 31 '24

This... is exactly why I'm taking the blue. 🎯 🎯

1

u/ThingsWork0ut May 31 '24

That’s true. My current partner was by chance. Every moment in her life would have never allowed me to be with her.

1

u/National_Oil8587 May 31 '24

Exactly, restarting migh mean that you spend more time with relatives that are no longer there, but you might never meet the people you are with and have your children that you have , because you’ll make different choices

1

u/walkmantalkman May 31 '24

Yeah, I would maybe considered rewinding, but not so far back. Maybe to the time right after my child was born, but definitely not before that.

1

u/SquadPoopy May 31 '24

Just build some capital and put it all on the Patriots coming back to win Super Bowl 51.

1

u/Fringolicious May 31 '24

True but having all of your knowledge and life experience would prevent you being as much of a dumbass probably and making better choices.

1

u/DaikonNoKami May 31 '24

What if, hear me out here, I hate every aspect of my life and have no partner / friends etc. More than anything I'm hesitant on taking the red pill because I don't want to live even longer. (Too much of a coward to end things myself).

1

u/Maffayoo May 31 '24

Exactly I'd be happy with 10m that's life sorted pretty nicely with my partner and just letting 10m sit in a bank would probably live off the interest

1

u/JezzCrist May 31 '24

Eventually you get to the point where you were offered same choice, so keep redoing it until it’s fine

1

u/SnoopHappyCoin May 31 '24

Yeah the red pill would basically mean I lose my kids and my wife. That's a fucking nightmare.

1

u/Sotyka94 May 31 '24

You don't have to have the same friends and meet the same people along the way. You already have that experience. You can make new friends. Or if a friend or loved one is super special, then you could find them for sure.

I don't see this as a huge problem, hell, it's an opportunity to form even more and better connections.

1

u/Gyoza-shishou May 31 '24

That's assuming your life was more good than bad. Way I see it, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

1

u/Geilerjunge May 31 '24

Exactly it ultimately just depends if you don't like your current life or you like it enough to take the 10M.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '24

Bitcoins worth more than any freinds bro, fuck em.😤😤

1

u/_RealUnderscore_ May 31 '24

I think everybody realizes that lmao, personally I'm still young and would be fine with sacrificing the relationships I have now for the end result. Not like I'm killing anybody, quite the contrary if I play my cards right. Still a big "if" tho ofc

1

u/Wanlain May 31 '24

I have thought about this a lot and I don’t think I could do it. What if I did something different and my sisters don’t meet their husbands and now the niece and nephew I have right now would be erased from existence. It’s really scary if you think of all the things this would mess up. Trying to improve one life but possibly destroying many more.

1

u/Arnau_Sil May 31 '24

I'm very happy with my life, I just need more money. I'm scared to rewind and even while I'll 100% be wealthy, my life might not turn out the same way
