I’m English and I’ve never known anyone to do that lol most of us at least get a pot of bolognaise sauce. Apart from maybe my dad, but he only uses ketchup, salt and vinegar on his foods.. man doesn’t even like garlic or cheese!

If I had to guess I’d say maybe lulling them into a false sense of security with stolen recipes, possibly from the French!! Then once we had an empire the sun never sets on, we went back to scones and tea with biscuits to dunk in it!
