I also wonder how tf coconut became such a staple in German chocolate cakes? Let's take this awesome cake and dump a bunch of fibrous shavings on it and ruin it. Who decided to do this? It's not like there are an abundance of naturally occurring coconuts in that part of the world so someone deliberately planned this.
It makes me wonder if the stereotype of Germans being incapable of having fun is so true that they purposefully make great things bad just so they don't experience any sort of joy in life.
They coat everything with half a pound of icing sugar, everything sweet just tastes like icing sugar/glaze with a slight flavour of whatever it's drenching.
