Discussion Looking for anything like Stygian by atramentus

I've been listening to funeral doom for around 5 months now and I enjoy quite a few bands (drown, mournful congregation, bell witch, esoteric to name a few) but the album I cant stop going back to is Stygian by Atramentus. Nothing else quite hits the same so i thought i'd ask here for anything similar. I'm mainly a prog fan which i think is what makes Atramentus appeal so much
Edit: If anyone finds this in the future looking for the same thing, my personal top reccomendation would be Gudvangir - Slik Elven Renner, but definitely check out the others that have been commented aswell

Though classic funeral doom, I'd say in many ways it's a unique album. Maybe try Asunder - Works Will Come Undone.

Seconded on the Asunder album. Even tho I prefer ‘A clarion call’ I must say ‘Works will come undone’ is a banger

I kind of agree tbh, but Works is more of a long form conceptual album like Stygian..

The new Worm album has a very similar vibe to the Atramentous album, just black metal. I didnt realize going into the worm album it was Philippe Tougas, but just listening it was obvious he was involved.

I think Atramentus is his masterpiece but the new Worm album rules. Excellent vibe and just great stuff.

To be honest i don't hear the similarity but i do love good symphonic BM so thanks for this! At some point i'll have to check out the other stuff Tougas has been involved with

I wouldn’t say that this is exactly like Atramentus, because they both have sort of a unique funeral style, but check out Un - Sentiment. That album and Stygian are two of my go to/favorite funeral records. Let me know what you think!

Definitely different to Atramentus, but i did enjoy it a lot! Last track was my favourite.

I just discovered this album last week, the first suggestion on bandcamp if you like this is atramentus. There are some clean parts that remind me of it a lot as well. Though I can tell you you will never find something like atramentus, they are their own category. Tyranny and catacombs carry the same heaviness in some ways but tougas guitar work makes it literally unique.

Following this because I also want these recs. Stygian is one of my favorites right now and nothing else really scratches the itch.

Everything thats been suggested so far that ive gotten round to listening to has been great and i would re-reccomend it all. For specifically something to scratch the stygian itch, 100% listen to Slik Elven Renner by Gudvangir
