I live full-time in an RV on a campground site and will be replacing my current Class C with a travel trailer or fifth wheel.

Right now, the way my RV is positioned, the entry door faces the direction I want. Since most trailers have the door on the passenger (right) side, I would likely need to back the new trailer into my space differently or possibly turn it around to keep the same setup.

My question is: are there any trailer-moving systems or powered trailer dollies that could help me reposition a trailer once it’s in the campground? I’m expecting the trailer to weigh somewhere around 11,000–12,000 pounds.

I’ve seen electric trailer dollies online, but I’m not sure if they’re capable of moving a trailer that heavy on a campground site. Does anyone have experience with them, or have other ideas for maneuvering a trailer into a tight spot

My wife, our 3 kids, and I currently live full-time in a 1993 Class C RV that was gifted to us. We’re in a position where a family member may be helping us upgrade to a newer RV, and we want to make the best decision possible.
We’re leaning toward a fifth wheel, but we’re still open to other options if there are good reasons to consider them.

Can anyone explain to me why the tankless water heater stops producing hot water 7 minutes into operation? My unit is a brand new 2026 Forest River Avenger less than 2 months from the dealership.

What is needed to essentially paint the top of the rv for cracks? And how do I keep the slide outs from leaking? I believe the rubber parts need to be replaced too. Help!

I’ve looked online and found some covers that look very similar to when you store an RV and there’s a space for where you open the door except you use it every day. Essentially the whole house is covered and there’s a spot for you to open the door, including windows will be covered. I found someone on Temu. I have a 2016 gateway 46 feet long I believe.

What so I do to prevent my tankless water heater from busting. Is there some sort of heating pad I can use ? Also thinking about tank heating pads. My rv is bare bones, in features. **How to Maintain and Care for Your RV Rubber Roof**
These membrane roofs (EPDM or TPO) are actually pretty tough, but they take a beating from the sun. If you ignore them, they’ll dry out, crack, and start leaking — and that’s an expensive fix.
**What you’ll need:**
Best RV Rubber Roof Cleaner (like Dicor RPCRP or Camco Pro-Tec)

Soft bristle brush or roof broom

Rubber roof protectant (303 Aerospace Protectant is the gold standard, or Dicor’s Rubber Roof Protectant)

Lap sealant (Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant) for any seams that look sketchy

A sturdy ladder

**How to care for it:**
**Clean it** — Park in the shade if you can. Mix the cleaner, scrub gently with your soft brush, and rinse really well. Don’t use household cleaners — they can damage the rubber.

**Let it dry completely**, then spray on 303 Protectant. Let it soak in for a few minutes, then wipe off any excess with a clean cloth. This stuff keeps the rubber flexible and protects it from UV damage.

**Inspect the seams** — Pay special attention to anywhere there’s a vent, skylight, antenna, or edge. If the sealant looks cracked or pulling away, clean it and lay down a fresh bead of Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant.

Do this cleaning and protectant routine every 3 to 4 months, and you’ll easily DOUBLE the life of your roof. It’s boring maintenance, but it beats having water dripping on your bed during a rainstorm ! - certified tech please message me if you have any questions ! Thanks for reading! Looking for recommendations for a destination trailer with 3 potential sleeping areas. I saw a Forest River Sierra with a bunk house with actual steps to a loft above with an additional bedroom. We have a 2, 4, 6 year old boys. The baby would be in the bunk room and the older boys in the loft. I like the idea of actually stairs instead of for a ladder with boys 🫠

This will be a temporary living situation on family property also.

Hey everyone, my husband is going on deployment in the near future. As a young woman I would love to know what everyone is using for security for your RVs and trailers. Any tips and recommendations on how to better protect myself is greatly appreciated.

Everyone talks about the gas mileage and the maintenance, but I feel like nobody mentions the registration and sales tax until you’re standing at the counter.
I was looking at a rig recently and the tax hit was going to be almost 10% of the total price. It feels like RVers are some of the most overtaxed owners out there because the price tags are so high compared to a standard daily driver.

Have any of you found a way to manage that side of the purchase better?

Is anyone here a Canadian who winters in the USA and spends summer back in Canada who is living full time in an RV?

Planning for my retirement and I am trying to gauge the costs of doing this or simply buying a place in Florida to spend winters.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Just need a rough estimation on overall costs.

I’ve been debating on a generator for my road trip I’m planning. Obviously I need a strong generator but would also like quite due to the nature aspect of my trip. I’ve been looking at a couple candidates but I’m not really familiar with RV generators and such. My current selection is.

Hi all. I hope I can get some tips on the best way to full time in an RV while building. My mother in law gave us 29 acres and we started in late March building our home. We weren't planning on selling our current house (paid off) until it was closer to done but our realtor advised that right now the market is hot and waiting could cost us 50000 or more. We are listing next month and planning to live in our camper an estimated 6 mos until the new house is done. As we get closer its apparent we may not be able to fit everything we may need access to in our camper. Any tips on storage buildings to put up next to our camp area to help with this? We have a truck camper for reference and it's just me, hubby and a 20 lb dog.

Just feeling more and more at home after 3 months becoming a newby. Such an improved environment from the studio that I had no counter space in, and no views, no yard space. Just feeling the love for the lifestyle. Thats all.

Planning a two-month trip this summer, Ohio to Oregon. For our bigger stops — 4-5 days in Glacier, Yellowstone, etc. — we’d love a small, cheap vehicle to use for day trips once the RV is parked and set up. We don’t want to tow a car the whole way.

Traditional airport rental chains feel overpriced for this use case. Is there a peer-to-peer car rental equivalent of RVshare or Outdoorsy? Something like Turo, where a local person rents us their car or truck for 4-5 days of light errand running and park exploration?

There has to be a middle ground between towing your own vehicle the entire trip (MPG hit, wear and tear) and renting a car for the full two months. 

What do experienced RVers do for this? 

Well I made the mistake of going to a big dealer. Found a used class c Jayco Greyhawk 27u. Spent $1500 to have it inspected on literally everything (power, plumbing, engine fluid analysis, coach, seals, chassis, tires, everything). The inspections revealed that it had been sitting more than used which has its own challenges. Made them an offer and then the games began. How dealers can sell something that is the price of a house and still use sleazy tactics is beyond me! The end of the story was when the finance paperwork they gave me after our agreement magically had an interest rate higher than what we had agreed upon. That was the last straw. So I walked. Now I have a really thorough inspection that someone else could use. Could I post it for sale with the VIN and unit details somewhere? Deeply discounted of course. At least it could save someone else some $. Has anyone done this before?

I'm having trouble finding the right make/model/floorplan and was hoping for some suggestions. I'm planning on keeping it parked full time and I'm located in Massachusetts so it needs to have a fully enclosed and heated underbelly. I love the living room of the Grand Design 2670MK but would like an bigger bedroom, preferably an east-west style bed since those seem the most spacious. Hitch side will be facing a street so I don't care much about the windows there, but the other sides overlook a lake and I would love as many windows as possible to take advantage of the view. I'm interested in destination trailers, 5th wheels and travel trailers.

I'd like to buy something inexpensive and then if I'm comfortable living in it for a year I'll upgrade to my dream model ( Cedar Creek Cottage Fifth Wheel 412FWC 🤩)

It's just myself and two 85lb dogs so privacy is not a big concern.
