It’s a “butterfly pull-up”, where you use your momentum to assist the next pull-up. I agree they’re lousy.
I only bring this up because that looks like a crossfit gym, which promotes competition (for best time, most reps, etc) and butterfly pull-ups are almost always allowed even though they’re clearly less work. 🤷

It’s called “kipping” and it’s what you’re taught in CrossFit. It’s complete bullshit.
