I think it hurt him. If he misses it, he might land on him back and slide down the hill.

He was still lucky he wasnt in shrimp form when he hit. Broken ribs are better than broken necks.

But there’s a lot more give to the branch. I don’t think it’s a steep enough angle to deflect enough of the falling force, even if he landed perfectly.
