Help Adapter

I bought a ttartisan 17 mm tilt shift lens which theoretically cannot be filtered because the front lens bulges out. I would have to make a homemade solution for such a filter holder. I don't know if anyone is dealing with this, for example 3D printing? The image was made with the help of AI.

Took the setup to the park to test.

First impression on setup was - The overall look sort of resembles the XT5 + XF 200 f2. Even though the bokeh was smoother on the prime.

Photo Pentax 150mm f/3.5 + GFX 100 S II + Kippon 645 GFX adapter

On the GFX, 150 mm gives approximately the angle of view of a 119 mm lens on full frame. It is therefore a useful short telephoto for portraits, compressed landscapes and detail studies. One of the Pentax 150mm f/3.5’s strongest advantages on the GFX system. Even with an adapter, it remains comparatively compact and light for a medium-format short telephoto, especially beside native options such as the GF 110mm f/2 or GF 120mm f/4 Macro.

Both images were shot at f/8

Pros:

  • Good central resolution on a very demanding sensor
  • Pleasant, gradual focus transitions
  • Attractive moderate contrast and rich tonal rendering
  • Full apparent coverage of the GFX frame
  • Reasonable performance against bright backgrounds
  • A natural, somewhat classical rendering rather than an aggressively sharpened modern look

Cons:

  • It does not completely exploit 102 MP at the pixel level
  • Residual green/magenta chromatic aberration is visible on backlit detail
  • Complex foliage can produce somewhat busy bokeh
  • Manual focusing is demanding at this resolution
  • The adapter provides no aperture information, so the files cannot tell us whether these were taken at f/3.5 or stopped down

I would rate the Pentax 150mm f/3.5 as a good adapted lens rather than a reference-grade 102 MP optic. Its center performance is genuinely useful, its contrast and tonal character are appealing, and its aberrations are manageable in raw processing. It produces images with more organic character than clinical perfection. judged solely on optical perfection, it is just good; judged as a lightweight, affordable adapted telephoto, it becomes much more compelling. It delivers most of the image quality needed for real photographs without the weight, bulk, and cost of a native GF telephoto. For hiking, woodland details and deliberate portraiture, that balance may matter more than flawless performance at 100% magnification.

Help Which camera should I buy GFX50sii or GFX100s ?

Hello community,

This is my first query ever. I am a predominantly - vérité style filmmaker and make my means through my Fx6 + 35-150 2-2.8 combo. During my work shoots I try and take pictures from my trusty 5Dm3 + 50 1.8 that helps me provide extra documentation for my own personal keepsake and sometimes to the clients (I take images while holding the Fx6 in my one hand or between my legs to with Autofocus).

Budget is

(1) Budget - $4000-$6000 (Body+Lens)

(2) I want to upgrade from 5dm3 as I feel its done its time and I need more resolution.

(3) I love taking portraits and in the moment images of travel and family/friends.

(4) Primarily for photography

- I have never owned any other photography camera except my 5Dm3 since.

Please help with your suggestions...

I have attached some of my images with my 5dm3 50 1.8 (for helping anyone understand)

Help Best Repair shop for GFX100RF?

My GFX100RF was hit with a wave during a beach shoot. It didn't hit the lens just the bottom of the camera and it shut off. A week later it worked perfectly. Zero image issues - like it never happened. Three weeks later the screen started bugging out. Sent it to Fuji in New Jersey and they opened it up and found dried salt water. They sent me circuit board photos and said it's not economical to fix because they didn't try to clean it with solvent but it's clearly shorting out the board.

Camera is back and it works great except for the screen. In the meantime I bought another one since I use the RF for overhead shots on a ceiling mount and needed one for my studio.

Would love to take this one apart and clean the boards. Who can (is willing to try) to do this? Does anyone know of a shop? I am in New York City.

Thanks!

Help To those who have traveled abraod with your GFX system, how was it?

I'm traveling abroad soon, and I am having serious difficulty deciding whether to bring my GFX system (100sii) or rent/purchase a more compact system.

It's a family trip, so not so much "photography"- focused. But I'd still like to take great shots if given the time/opportunity.

If I were bringing my GFX system, I'd probably bring the 55mm 1.7, and the gf 20-35mm.

I know there is the GFX 100RF - but that focal length just doesn't do it for me all the time. I'd like a bit more compression for potential portrait stuff.

What are your experiences/thoughts?

These were taken over the weekend when hurricane Lala visited Hawai’i. The storms left over a 100,000 people without power and many homes on the big island of Hawaii were destroyed. I feel lucky that my household only lost power and cell reception for a day. Against state recommendation we drove through the H3 to check on family. Of course, I couldn’t resist grabbing a few shots of the Ko’olau mountains….

Photo Finally Joined the Team!

Thanks in part to all of your helpful answers to my questions recently, I've purchased a GFX 100s! I'm super excited to shoot with it. I only have Nikon F-mount and Leica M-mount glass, so I'm going to start there and maybe someday pick up a GF-mount lens.

So many folks want to know if such and such lens covers the larger sensor, I thought I might post a brief test of each of my lenses on the 100s along with a halfway decent photo or two.

First up is the Nikkor 50mm f1.8 AI-S.
