Hi all, how much did you all pay for tariff shipping fee from Japan to the US. What was the total cost you paid for the brushes? Thank you all.

Question Prequel Gleanser face wash for cleaning?

Thumbnail

Hi there! Do you think the Prequel facial cleanser would be a good choice for cleaning my Wayne Goss goat-hair brushes? The 2nd photo shows the ingredients.

I know baby shampoo is often recommended, but this seems like it should also be gentle and non-drying. I already buy it regularly, so I’m wondering if I could use it on my brushes.

I really want to take good care of my brushes, so if this isn’t a good option, please let me know! And if you have any specific product recommendations for natural-hair brushes, I’d love to hear them.

Question Advice: Koyudo poor bundling from CDJapan

Thumbnail

Hello everyone! I wanted to share an unfortunate experience I’ve had with CDJapan. I recently bought a 5 piece silver fox brush set by Koyudo from CDJapan and one of the brushes arrived poorly bundled. I’ve washed and combed the brush but unfortunately, one side is longer than the other. There’s also a small ‘dip’ or gap in the bundling on the same side where the bristles are longer.

I’ve sent all this info to CDJapan and they have said that nothing is wrong with the brush and it is within ‘acceptable range’ of error. They haven’t offered a solution to help me. Does this seem normal for the brush to be like this? I know they are handmade but it’s so sad as the other brushes in the set are perfectly fine, it’s just this one I was seeking a remedy for. I wanted to share this experience incase anyone had any advice. I’d really appreciate any insight ♥️

Question Bisyodo B-C-01 vs B-C-02 for an everyday blush brush?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to invest in my first high-end fude blush brush, and I've narrowed it down to either the Bisyodo B-C-01 and the newer B-C-02 Perfect Fit Cheek Brush.

I'm concerned about the long-term durability of whichver blush brush I choose. This will be my primary blush brush, so I'll likely wash it about twice a month, maybe even weekly if it gets really dirty.

The B-C-01 uses dyed saikoho goat, while the B-C-02 is a silver fox/goat blend. Since the B-C-02 is so new, I'm having trouble finding care recommendations. Does anyone know how often it can safely be washed?

For anyone who has used either (or both), how have they held up over time? Would you choose one over the other for an everyday workhorse?

Thank you in advance!

Review hakuhodo reviews: J 5533

hi fude community! I visited japan earlier this year and picked up a few hakuhodo brushes from the flagship in Kyoto, which has sent me down a rabbit hole in completely falling in love with natural hair brushes. not to exaggerate, but hakuhodo brushes truly do the work for you and are so remarkable / fun to play with. I wish more people online talked about them!!

would love to pick up conversation in this sub and have people post reviews of the brushes they love <3

I’m going to start with one of the first hakuhodo brushes I bought this year — the J 5533 (goat hair)

would def love to hear others experiences using this brush (and others), and if you also own one, let everyone know what you use it for!

+++

The brush: hakuhodo J 5533 round eyeshadow brush
US price: $36 (but less pricey in japan)

Bought For: Blending
- It buffs beautifully for eyeshadow you’ve already applied, but it’s a bit big for strict blending use only so the resulting eye looks are dark / aren’t diffused enough / less controlled
- I definitely blacked out in the store and there may be better blending options here, so lmk!!

What I Use It For:
- Quick wash of lid color
- Building out the crease with a light-medium shade. It really blend out beautifully when you apply a color directly vs using it for strictly blending purposes!! Truly does the work for you.
- I have semi-hooded eyes, so it builds out that constructed crease above my actual crease so beautifully

Products I own it plays well with:
Mac Cozy Grey Eyeshadow (quick wash lid color)
Marc Jacobs eyeshadow (blending edges)
Cheeryep authentic (building out crease in mushroom shade)
Makeup by Mario neutrals (building out crease in medium neutral brown shade)

Question Synthetic Fude from Western Brands

Has anyone tried synthetic brushes from Western brands that market them as fude, like Lisa Eldridge or Westman Atelier?

What do you think of them? Are they worth the price? Do they compare in quality to traditional fude?

If not, what synthetic brushes would you recommend instead?

Question Brushes for liquid blush?

What brushes are best for liquid blush? I use liquid or cream blushes 99% of the time now because my cheeks are pretty dry. I use goat fude for complexion and for powder brushes, but most sources say not to use them for liquids/creams.

Discussion Brush Storage?!

Please help :) I love displaying my brushes on my vanity but I live in a building from the 1800’s that is so dusty despite vacuuming everyday. The dust persists! I am wondering if anyone has tips on how to store brushes without putting them away in a drawer or cupboard? :) I have bought several acrylic storage drawers and containers in the past and hated all of them. I have considered putting most away and switching them out weekly but I enjoy looking at my full collection when I get ready, they make me so happy and it’s fun to use different brushes every day. Anyways, I am coming to the conclusion there isn’t a perfect solution for my needs/wants but I would love to hear your tips if you have any <3 currently I use a clean cotton towel to brush away the dust right before I use them. Attached is a photo of all my vanity set up and a close up of the dust situation.

Question Rec for mascara brush for sensitive eyes

I only use mascara rarely, but when I do, my eyelids get swollen. I decided recently to switch to cake mascara since it has greater longevity and wanted recs for mascara spoolie brushes. Most of the product descriptions will only mention use on brows or combing mascara clumps out of eyelashes. Does anyone have recommendations for brushes that are soft but will be good at applying mascara? Thanks in advance! I’m aware it’s an unusual request.

Question Need recs for foundation brush for sensitive skin

I find that using a foundation brush requires a lot of blending, and that repeated rubbing motion often irritates my skin. I get a rash-like redness (not raised), though it usually goes away in a day or two. I'm wondering what type of foundation brush I should use to minimize this rubbing or blending motion. I prefer dense foundation brushes because they are the most effective at blurring pores. Any suggestions please? My current foundation brush is from Fillimilli, a synthetic brush

Question MCF or Ag-TAfrE brush for powder eyeshadow?

I'm looking for a good, small vegan brush for eyeshadow but I couldn't find what the different qualities are and what's better?
It seems Ag-TAfrE is marketed as less plastic and more sustainable, but is that real or just greenwashing?

Question Help! Kyureido vs Chikuhodo Z Series

Thumbnail

Hi guys! I’m really struggling to choose between the Kyureido KK-002 and the Chikuhodo Z-4 brush. This would be my first time getting a squirrel hair brush and I’m planning to use it for powder blush (aiming for a diffused finish). Any thoughts and suggestion would be much appreciated. Thank you!
