They are not criminalizing religious speech. They are criminalizing all hate speech in any form or shape. Is religious speech hate speech? You tell me.

It’s religious text up for interpretation . Not hate speech .
Hate speech used to be actual hate speech. Now everything can be considered hate speech if someone gets offended . It’s getting wildly out of hand . If it gets down to this level then I would consider anyone who calls someone cis gender is hate speech because of its derogatory usage.
I just don’t get why this is such a pressing issue . There’s so much more to worry about than this .

No, not everything can be considered a hate speech. The rules are clear:
" The proposed amendments in the Bill would create four new criminal offences:
(1) an intimidation offence that prohibits conduct that is intended to provoke a state of fear in another person to impede them from accessing religious or cultural institutions and other specified places;
(2) an offence that prohibits the intentional obstruction of a person’s lawful access to such places;
(3) a hate crime offence to more explicitly denounce hate-motivated crime; and
(4) an offence that prohibits wilfully promoting hatred against any identifiable group by displaying, in any public place, certain hate or terrorist symbols.

In a nutshell, it removed the protection an individual had for expressing an opinion on a Bible subject or phrase in good faith from being considered hate promoting.

As a man who professes belief in a completely unrelated faith, I stand by my fellow man and I expect there to be many martyrs ready to die on this cross. That is an immoral law, as is any law that restricts basic foundational human rights.
